Cats need to take care of themselves like humans. Pamper your cat by providing self-care and a fun cat spa experience. In addition to the self-care you provide, create areas where your cat can pamper herself, including a claw post and a combing area.

Method 1 of 5: Creating a Spa for Cats
Step 1. Choose the material for the pole where the cat scratches
You can make them out of cardboard, fabric, or rope. This pole can even be made by simply wrapping a rope that is glued together at both ends with a stick of wood. This will help control the length of your cat's nails so they don't have to be trimmed too often. You can attach a scratching post to a piece of plywood to create a cat play area that can be added later. Many cats also like to scratch carpets glued to plywood.
Some cats like to scratch vertical surfaces, and some like horizontal surfaces. Watch your cat and find its preferred orientation
Step 2. Create a play area
Buy a variety of cat toys for your pet. Invite to play after your pet cat eats. Try attaching toys to scratching posts so that the play area is all in one place (that way you don't have to worry too much about collecting scattered cat toys).
Step 3. Create a combing area for your cat
Take a cat brush or two, pull out the handle and remove the hairy part, then attach it to a piece of wood or thick cardboard using glue. This way, the cat can rub its fur against the brush at any time. This method makes it easier for you to control your cat's fur, especially if the cat's hair falls out easily. If you don't want to make your own, you can buy commercial products with similar functionality.
Step 4. Make a catnip toy
Cats love catnip so much that it can enhance their spa experience. If it seems that your cat is in a bad mood, catnip can bring your pet back to life and excitement.
Step 5. Use different textures
Cats like to rub their bodies against various textures to massage themselves. Try using different pieces of cloth or carpet that are glued or attached to thick cardboard or pieces of wood using a stapler. This will also help the cat stay away from your furniture!
Step 6. Purchase a cat spa and activity center
Cats love massages, brushing motions, and the various plastic cat spa upgrades that can be purchased online. Cats can rub their face on the massage area or brush, or have fun with the catnip dispenser. This option is great if you don't want to build the kit.
Method 2 of 5: Brushing the Cat
Step 1. Get your cat used to being brushed
Start brushing when your cat is happy, usually after eating. Although cats often clean themselves, it can take some time to get used to being brushed. Start by letting the cat check the brush and try brushing the cat for 5 minutes.
Step 2. Hug and talk to your cat while brushing
Keep the cat happy and entertained while being brushed. Start with a regular brushing routine to let your cat know and wait for what you're about to do. At first, you can give your cat treats in exchange for good behavior when brushed.
Step 3. Choose the right tool
Short haired cats have different needs from long haired cats. Always brush in the direction the cat's hair is growing. Be sure to clean the brush after each use, and especially if you use the same brush for multiple cats.
- Short-haired cats need a regular metal brush for the initial brushing, followed by a soft rubber brush for brushing loose hair.
- Long-haired cats usually need a wide-toothed comb to remove any tangles and debris that might get stuck in their fur. Carefully comb the cat's fur to remove any tangles. Then, use a wire brush to brush off the fallen hair. Some people suggest using a toothbrush to brush the cat's face in the final stages.
Step 4. Detangle the fur
A cat's long coat can tangle easily and is often difficult to groom. Make sure your cat is in a very good mood before you start grooming his tangled fur. Use a wide-toothed comb to comb the tangled edges closest to the tips of the bristles. Keep pulling the comb gently sideways, and don't break the cat's hair. In the end the matted hair will be neat, although it may take a few sessions to complete.
Method 3 of 5: Washing Cat's Face
Step 1. Focus on the cat's eyes
Check to see if both cat's eyes look healthy. The cat's eye color should be clear, with a bright white area around the iris. Use a damp cotton swab to remove any dirt that has accumulated around the edges of the cat's eyes. Use a different cotton swab for each eye.
Step 2. Trim the cat's fur
Some cats have hair so long in the face that they can poke through the eyes or block the cat's view. This is a problem with long-haired cats. Brush all the hair on the face area with a toothbrush, not with a comb or wire brush
Step 3. Clean the cat's ears
Ask your veterinarian for recommendations for good ear cleaners for cats. Keep in mind that some ear cleaners sold at pet stores are not suitable for cats. Therefore, check with your veterinarian first. Apply one drop of ear cleaner to a piece of cotton or gauze.
- Fold the cat's ears back and gently remove any dirt and ear wax that has accumulated in them.
- Do not rub the cat's ears, just pat them with cotton or gauze.
- Make sure you don't disturb the cat's ear canal. This part is very sensitive and susceptible to infection.
Method 4 of 5: Giving Cats a Pedicure
Step 1. Prepare the cat for nail trimming
If you've never trimmed a cat's nails before, it's a good idea to pay attention to how other people cut their cat's nails. For some cats, a scratching pole is enough to take care of the nails so they don't need to be trimmed. However, for most cats, clipping their nails is an important part of self-care. Make sure your cat is happy or even sleepy before you start cutting nails. Hug and scratch the cat so it's ready to be trimmed. Some cats don't like having their nails trimmed and may need to be wrapped in a towel to make the process easier.
Step 2. Choose a good nail clipper
Cats need special nail clippers sold at pet stores. It's a good idea to put a drop of baby oil on your cat's nails to see the true length of the cat's nails. Cat nails should not be cut too short, so as not to bleed when cut.
Step 3. Start cutting
Holding one cat's paw, place your index finger under the finger of the cat whose nail you want to trim. Place your thumb on the cat's finger. The cat's nails will come out when you gently press the thumb and forefinger (usually, the cat's nails go into the finger and need to be removed before they can be trimmed). Cut the nail just above the pink area (called the dermis).
Step 4. Reward the cat

Step 1. Bathe the cat
Some cats like water, but most don't really like baths. Fortunately, cats often clean themselves with their tongues. However, sometimes cats need to be bathed, especially if they come into contact with something very smelly and sticky. Bathing the cat should be the last step in your cat spa. Brush and trim your cat's nails before bathing. Cats will love bathing if they like water. Fill the tub with 7.6-12.7 cm of warm water. Spread a rubber mat at the bottom of the tub so the cat doesn't slip.
Step 2. Prepare cat shampoo
Always use a shampoo specifically for cats, as other shampoos can contain oils that are toxic to cats. Mix 1/6 shampoo and 5/6 water in a bowl and have it next to you to give to the cat later.
Step 3. Provide a sprayer, jug, or washcloth
You will need a sprayer, a shatterproof jug, or a washcloth to wet the cat and then rinse out the shampoo. Make sure you NO spray or splash water directly on the cat's face. Water should not get into the cat's eyes, ears or nose. Therefore, do it carefully.
Step 4. Prepare the cat bath area
Make sure the door to the room for bathing the cat is tightly closed. Don't let your house get wet because of cats running around after bathing. Have several large towels by your side in case the cat manages to escape or is restless in the tub. Keep all your supplies close at hand: shampoo, jug, washcloth, or towel, just whatever you're going to use. Take your cat carefully and place it in the bath.
Step 5. Start bathing the cat
Wet the cat from the neck down using a spray, pitcher, or washcloth. Always hold the cat in one hand so it doesn't run away. Put a small amount of shampoo in your hand or washcloth and rub it all over the cat's hair, starting from the neck and working your way up to the tail.
Step 6. Rinse thoroughly
Use a sprayer, pitcher, or washcloth to make sure no shampoo is left in the cat's fur. Use clean water with a clean cloth, wipe the cat's face and make sure it doesn't get in the cat's eyes, ears or mouth.
Step 7. Dry your cat
remove the cat from the tub then wrap it in a large towel. Pat the towel all over the cat until the fur is dry. Give treats to cats because they have behaved well.
