There are many ways to draw fish. Below are two step-by-step examples.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Realistic Fish
Step 1. Draw crossed guide lines to help align our shapes
Draw oval and rectangular guide lines for the body of the fish.
Step 2. For the tail, draw a large triangle
Draw another triangle for the head. The corners of this triangle, which are outside the oval, taper downwards.
Step 3. Outline the final shape of the fish using the guide lines
Draw the mouth like 3 upside down. The tip of the tail is drawn with a wavy line curved inward on the guide line of a large triangle. Draw the gill cover with 2 arches. Finally, draw a circle for the eyes.
Step 4. Erase all the guide lines
Draw the upper fin with wavy lines. Draw one fin near the gill cover and the other fin close to the bottom edge of the fish. These fins should look similar to an irregular narrow V.
Step 5. Erase the lines inside the fin and draw a circle for the fish's pupil
Step 6. Give details inside the fins and tail by drawing wavy lines
Step 7. Detail the body of the fish by drawing the scales
Draw a small inverted C inside the body of the fish to make the scales.
Step 8. Color the fish
Method 2 of 2: Cute Cartoon Fish
Step 1. Draw cross guide lines to help align the shapes
Draw oval and triangular guide lines for the body of the fish.
Step 2. Draw 2 triangles for the fish tail
Make the top triangle bigger than the other.
Step 3. Draw two ovals for the eyes, making the left eye smaller
For the mouth guide line draw another small oval perpendicular to the left eye.
Step 4. Use the outline to draw the final shape of the fish
Draw the tail with a gentle arc.
Step 5. Draw circles for the eyes
Draw the upper fin with wavy lines. Draw a bottom fin like a B attached to the bottom of the fish.
Step 6. Erase all the guide lines and draw two crescent shapes for the gill covers
