Have you ever thought about getting a tattoo, but are sadly too young, don't have the money, or don't want to do something permanent? Luckily, you can get a unique and stylish temporary tattoo without draining your bank account or breaking moral principles. Try getting a tattoo with markers and the help of baby powder and hairspray, or gel deodorant. The method described in this article will help you get a cool marker tattoo!

Step

Method 1 of 2: Using Baby Powder and Hairspray

Step 1. Draw the tattoo design on the skin

Take a marker and draw the desired tattoo directly on the skin. You can use colored markers if you want, but be careful that what you draw will be the “permanent” version. It might be a good idea to ask a friend to help with this step to make sure the picture looks good. Wait until the marker image is completely dry.

Step 2. Sprinkle baby powder over the image

Feel free to use a lot of powder as you will need to cover the entire marker with powder. Rub the powder on the image; and the marker should not fade or smudge. Wipe off excess powder that doesn't stick to the skin.

Step 3. Spray the tattoo with hairspray

Hold the hairspray can about 30-40 cm from the tattoo and spray the entire image evenly. Make sure you cover the entire tattoo and baby powder, but be careful not to spray it all over the place. Wait for the hairspray to dry.

Step 4. Wipe off excess hairspray

Use a tissue to wipe off any excess baby powder or hairspray around the tattoo. Once the hairspray dries, the tattoo will be "permanent" and won't fade when rubbed with a tissue. This method will make the tattoo last up to a month.

Method 2 of 2: Using Deodorant Gel and Tracing Paper

Step 1. Trace the tattoo image using tracing paper

If you are copying another drawing, place the tracing paper over the drawing and follow the outline carefully. Try to place the image on the flattest part of the hand. Otherwise, draw the tattoo you want directly on the tracing paper (if you don't want to trace it). Use colorful markers if you want, but make sure you choose a quality marker like Sharpie, not something else.

Step 2. Coat the skin with a gel deodorant

Where you want to get the tattoo, apply the deodorant evenly. Make sure you apply enough so it doesn't dry out right away, but not so much that the paper doesn't come into contact with the skin.

Step 3. Place the tracing paper on top of the gel

Place the drawn paper upside down on the area of skin that has been smeared with gel. Hold the paper firmly for a minute until the image transfers to the skin. Once done, remove the paper and check the results. Correct the error in the image by repeating the previously mentioned process.

Step 4. Sprinkle baby powder so that the tattoo adheres well

Take some baby powder and sprinkle it over the tattoo to absorb excess moisture from the tattoo and help it adhere well. This step will make the tattoo last longer. Without baby powder, temporary tattoos can only last for 2-3 days.

Step 5. Wipe off excess material

Use a clean tissue to carefully wipe off any excess gel or powder on the skin. Don't rub the tattoo too hard, unless you're sure it's completely dry. When you're done, you can protect your tattoo to make it last longer by covering it with plastic wrap while you sleep.

Tips

  • Avoid washing or scrubbing your tattoo in the shower to make it last longer.
  • If you don't have baby powder, you can also use cornstarch.
  • If you spray the tattoo too close and the ink starts to run off, use a tissue or cotton swab to wipe it off. Dip a cotton swab in alcohol and wring it out to remove excess alcohol, then wipe the edges of the tattoo "carefully" to remove any smudged ink.
  • When repairing the tattoo, use a clean tissue or toilet paper to gently pat the tattoo every 1-2 seconds to prevent the alcohol from damaging the tattoo further.
  • If your tattoo is messy, use some nail polish remover to fix it.
  • If you don't feel comfortable using a Sharpie marker, you can use a Crayola marker or a high-quality marker.
  • Please note that tattoos will not last more than 48 hours if they come into contact with clothing or water while showering. Sleeves will fade ink within 2 days.
  • Whenever you fix a tattoo, be sure to spray it with hairspray. The ink that has just been scratched must be coated with hairspray to prevent it from fading quickly.
  • If you like the dripping effect or want to fade/remove the tattoo, spray some body spray on the tattoo. Body spray not only makes the tattoo fade, it also fades (if that's what you want).
  • Change the tissue frequently so that the baby powder doesn't smudge and damage the tattoo.
