Microsoft Word documents can be saved by clicking the File menu and clicking " Save ". If you need special publications or specific printing needs, use the " Save As " feature to save documents with file types other than Microsoft Word (such as PDF files). Saving work when you have completed it is a must so that you can continue the work in Word later.

Method 1 of 2: Saving a Microsoft Word document
Step 1. Open the desired document
You can open Microsoft Word by double-clicking the MS Word icon or double-clicking a Word document.
Step 2. Locate and click the “File” tab
"File " is in the upper left corner of the MS Word interface.
Step 3. Click "Save" or "Save As"
If you click " Save " in an unsaved document, the " Save As " menu will be displayed.
If the document has already been saved, you do not need to select a save location (eg Desktop) or file name. The file will update immediately
Step 4. Specify the location to save the file in the "Save As" menu
Commonly used locations are " This PC " and OneDrive, but you can also click "Browse" to specify another location.
You must select a subfolder (eg desktop) when selecting " This PC"
Step 5. Double-click the file storage location
You will be prompted to enter a file name.
Step 6. Enter the desired file name in the "File Name" field
Step 7. Save the file by clicking "Save"
Step 8. Make sure you have saved the file before closing it
If the file is already in the specified storage location, then you have successfully saved it!
Method 2 of 2: Saving Files in Other Formats
Step 1. Open your document
You can open Microsoft Word by double-clicking the MS Word icon or double-clicking a Word document.
Step 2. Select "Save As"
If the document has never been saved before, the " Save As " menu will still be displayed even if you select " Save ".
Step 3. Specify the location to save the file in the "Save As" menu
Commonly used locations are " This PC " and OneDrive, but you can also click "Browse" to specify another location.

Step 4. Double-click the file storage location
You will be prompted to enter a file name.
Step 5. Enter the desired file name in the "File Name" field
Step 6. Find and click the "Save as Type" column
From here, you can select the type of file you want to save the document to.
Available file types include PDF, Web Page, and previously adapted versions of Word (eg 1997-2003)
Step 7. Save the file by clicking " Save"
Step 8. Make sure you have saved the document before closing it
If the file is already in the specified storage location, then you have saved it correctly!
Tips
- At any time you can also save the document you are working on by pressing Control + S or clicking the diskette icon in the upper right corner.
- If you want your document to be accessible to different platforms, select the " OneDrive " option when saving it. This allows you to access the document using a tablet, phone, or computer that has internet access.
- Usually Word will ask if you want to save the changes that have been made if you close the document without saving them.
