Attaching a flat-screen TV to the wall is an aesthetic activity that you are sure to enjoy. The advent of flat screen TVs, HD TVs, and plasma TVs has caused more and more people to now start attaching TVs to their walls. In fact, the method is relatively easy and inexpensive. Sturdy wall mounts can be purchased for as little as 50 or 60 dollars. Read on for the detailed guide below to understand how to attach the TV to the wall.

Method 1 of 2: Attaching the Binder to the TV
Step 1. Fasteners (aka brackets) with the right size can be purchased on the internet or at electronics retail stores
Every major electronics retailer has this binder. Generally, fasteners come in various sizes. This means you can purchase a strap that fits multiple TVs.

For example, you can purchase a strap that fits a 32-56-inch television. This strap is sure to fit any flat-screen TV that comes in at this size, unless otherwise stated.

Step 2. Remove the TV base if attached
If the base of the TV wasn't attached when you opened the box, don't install it because you'll have to take it off later.
Step 3. Lay the front of the TV on a soft, padded and flat surface
If you are unsure where to place your plasma TV on the carpet or floor, consult the owner's manual for guidance. Some plasma display manufacturers recommend that the flat screen face up when attaching the binder.
Step 4. Locate the four holes on the back of the TV
This is the hole for attaching the fastener. There may be three types of holes for pasting. The two small straps will be attached to the TV.
Remove all screws from the holes if necessary. Many manufacturers cover the TV holes with screws during assembly
Step 5. Insert the strap into the back of the TV
Align the fasteners as indicated in the installation manual. Make sure that the strap is facing the correct direction when attached to the TV.
Step 6. Use a screwdriver to tighten the remaining bolts
The fastener must be firmly attached to the TV without being able to move. You may need to attach the ring that came with the strap to make sure it's secure.
Method 2 of 2: Mounting the TV to the Wall
Step 1. Locate the trusses (aka studs) in the wall
Mark the center of the frame on the wall. The standard frame is 1.5 inches wide (after drying and covering a 2" x 4" rough cutting board). If you hang the flat screen instead of the frame, the TV may fall and break off the drywall, damaging the wall.
- The best way to find frames is with an electronic chassis finder, which can be found at your local hardware store.
- Alternatively, you can measure approximately 40.64 cm from the closest wall corner, then continue measuring every 40.64 cm.
- If you really can't find the frame, use your finger to tap the wall where you think it might be. Hollow sound means drywall, while thinner sound means frame. Drive small nails where the frame is. If the nail goes through then it's a drywall; if it takes a few strokes to get the nails in, that's the frame.
Step 2. Using a leveler (aka level), mark the frame with a pencil
You'll need to ensure a snug, even fit, so take a little time before you paste to make sure that the attached TV will pull.
Step 3. Drill the initial hole according to the drill pattern on the back of the fastener
The starting hole should be slightly smaller than the bolt you are going to drill into. What you are doing is making it easier for the bolts to fit in.
Step 4. Place the fastener on the wall, aligning it with the frame and the starting hole you just drilled
Ask someone else to help you in the next step.
Step 5. Hold the fastener against the wall and screw the largest bolt into the starting hole
You can use a drill or just plug it in with a socket and wrench. Double-check to make sure the fasteners are level.

Make two holes in the wall if you want to hide and prevent cables from escaping from the TV.

Make a square hole in the center of the fastener. The fastener has a square hole specially designed for this.

From thirty centimeters from the ground, make another square hole in the drywall. This hole may be smaller than the first hole.

Step 6. Take the TV and hang it on the strap
Tighten the nut on the fastener so that the TV is screwed onto the strap.
Step 7. Make sure that the straps are solid and can support the weight of the TV before you actually attach it
Plug the cable into place and then turn on the TV.
Step 8. Done

Tips
- Do not drill holes to route the cable in the wall along the same vertical axis as the power strip plug or cable/satellite faceplate shaft receptacle, as you could drill electrical paths or cable wire.
- Buying in-wall cables will save you time and money if you decide to move later.
- Sticking the TV over a wall outlet helps, so you don't have to plug in a new one.
- A metal coat hanger can be used to guide the cable through the hole.
- To hide the cables you'll need to cut holes in the back of the TV and in the bottom of the wall.
- The TV power cord will not affect the picture.
- The easiest way to find skeletons is with the skeleton finder.
- Ask someone to help you hold the straps and hang the TV for easier.
Warning
- Make sure your TV is sturdy and won't fall off when removed.
- Drill carefully, as wires and pipes can be hidden in the walls.
- Hiding the TV power cord inside the wall as in this picture is not safe for buildings or in the event of a fire. It is not safe.
- You should use quality in-wall cables when hiding cables.
