Reopening a tab in your browser can be useful if you accidentally close a tab that should have remained open, or when you just closed a tab and don't remember the link on that tab. Most browsers make it easy for you to reopen closed tabs, and view a list of closed tabs to select a specific tab.

Method 1 of 8: Chrome
Step 1. Press
Ctrl+⇧ Shift+T (Windows) or Command+⇧ Shift+T (Mac) to quickly reopen closed tabs.
This shortcut will reopen the last tab you closed.
- You can also right-click on the top of the Chrome window and select "Reopen closed tab".
- Continue to use these shortcuts to open closed tabs, in the order they were closed.
Step 2. Click the Chrome menu (☰), then select "Recent Tabs"
You will see all the recently closed tabs. If you have several open tabs closed at once, you can open them by clicking the "# Tabs" option.
Step 3. Download the tab manager extension
If you frequently have multiple tabs open, a tab manager might be able to help you organize and keep track of the tabs you open and close. There are several popular tab managers available for free on the Chrome Web Store, including:
- Tab Manager
- Tabman Tabs Manager
- Tabs Outliner
Method 2 of 8: Chrome (Mobile)
Step 1. Tap the Chrome menu button (⋮)
You may need to swipe down to see the menu bar.
Step 2. Select Recent Tabs
A list of recent tabs will appear in the open tabs. If you're signed in with a Google account, you'll also see tab history from other devices.
Step 3. Tap on any of the tabs to open it
The tab you selected will open in the active tab.
Method 3 of 8: Internet Explorer
Step 1. Press {{keypress|Ctrl|Shift|T} to open the last closed tab
You can use this shortcut multiple times to continue to open closed tabs, in the order they were closed.
You can also right-click on an open tab and select "Reopen closed tab" to open the last closed tab
Step 2. Right-click on an open tab, then click "Recently closed tabs"
A list of closed tabs in your current browsing session will be displayed. You can open specific tabs, or click "Open all closed tabs" to open all tabs in the list.
Method 4 of 8: Firefox
Step 1. Press
Ctrl+⇧ Shift+T (Windows) or Command+⇧ Shift+T (Mac) to reopen the last closed tab. You can use this shortcut multiple times to continue to open closed tabs, in the order they were closed.
Step 2. Press the Firefox menu button (☰), then select "History"
Recently closed tabs will appear in the "Restore Closed Tabs" section. Click an entry to open it in a new tab, or open an entire tab by clicking "Restore Closed Tabs".
Method 5 of 8: Firefox (Mobile)
Step 1. Tap the Tabs button, then tap + to open a new tab
Step 2. Swipe from right to left until you find Recent Tabs
Here, you will see all the recently closed tabs.
Step 3. Tap an entry to open a tab
The tab will open in a new tab.
You can also select "Open all" to open all tabs in the list
Method 6 of 8: Safari
Step 1. Open a recently closed tab by pressing
Command+Z.
This shortcut can only be used to reopen the last closed tab -- you can't use it repeatedly.
You can also click Edit > Undo Close Tab
Step 2. Click the History menu to open the window you just closed
If you closed a window with multiple tabs, you can open the window by selecting the "Reopen Last Closed Window" option from the "History" menu.
Step 3. Install extensions to help you organize tabs
Safari doesn't have some of the tabbed tools that Firefox or Chrome have. You can use the free "Recent Tab List" extension to add a Recent Tabs button to the Safari toolbar. The button lets you quickly reopen recently closed tabs.

Method 7 of 8: Safari (iOS)
Step 1. Tap the Tabs button at the bottom of the screen
You may need to drag the screen for the menu bar to appear.
Step 2. Press and hold the + button to display the last 5 tabs you closed
Note: This step can only be done on iOS 8, or iOS 7 if you are using an iPad. If your iOS version is earlier, you'll need to use the History list in Bookmarks to open old tabs
Step 3. Tap the tab you want to open
If you need to open an older tab, you'll need to do so via History.
Method 8 of 8: Opera
Step 1. Press
Ctrl+⇧ Shift+T (Windows) or Command+⇧ Shift+T (Mac) to reopen the last closed tab. You can use this shortcut multiple times to continue to open closed tabs, in the order they were closed.
You can also right-click on an open tab and select "Reopen last closed tab"
Step 2. Click the Opera menu, then click "Recent Tabs"
You will see a list of recently closed tabs. Click a tab in the list to open that tab in a new tab.
