Wattpad is a social media website that allows its members to read and write stories. This site has become a rapidly growing service and operates for free. Wattpad is designed to be easy to access or use at any time by operating as a multiplatform application and online service.

Method 1 of 4: Getting Started
Step 1. Create a Wattpad account
All you need is an email address or social media accounts like Facebook, Google Plus, and Instagram. If you're using email, you'll also need to create a username and password.
- When creating a username, there are some characters that cannot be used.
- You must be 13 years of age or older, and comply with certain other requirements (see the terms and conditions of service page).
Step 2. Verify the account
After creating a Wattpad account, you will receive a verification email. When the email is received, open the link sent in the message. After that, the account will be verified.
Step 3. Update profile
After creating an account, you will be asked to fill in some basic information for the profile. If you link your Wattpad account with a Facebook, Google, or Instagram account, your profile photo will automatically be added. If you didn't create an account using a social media account, upload a profile photo to your Wattpad account if you prefer.

Step 4. Browse the Wattpad desktop site
The top menu bar displays the “Discover” tabs (to search for stories, and you can perform specific searches), “Create” (to write and share stories), and “Community” (contains clubs, awards, writing contests, authors, and etc). In addition to these buttons, your profile photo and username are also displayed on this bar. Once the photo is clicked, a drop-down menu with several options will appear. The options are “profile”, “inbox” (Wattpad's messaging system, like short messages), “notifications” (contains updates to stories you read, comments on profiles and uploaded works, notifications of followers and users being followed, and so on. -other), “works” (your work, whether shared or not), and “library” (stories you have read). In addition, there are also options such as “invite friends”, “language”, “help”, “settings” (containing user name information, passwords, emails, profile photos, background images, etc.), and lastly, " logout ".
Step 5. Browse the Wattpad mobile app
Once you're signed in to your Wattpad account, you'll immediately be taken to a library that displays all the stories you've read. If you touch the little “w” button in the upper-left corner of the screen, a drop-down menu will open. In the menu, there is your name and profile photo (to access your profile), a bell icon (to view notifications), a mail icon (to access your inbox). This menu also has several options such as “library” (currently open page), “discover”, “reading lists” (you can create reading lists which are basically miniature managed libraries), “news feed” (community feed), “create”, “invite friends”, and “settings”.
Method 2 of 4: Reading Stories on Wattpad
Step 1. Find the story you want to read
Visit the “Discover” tab marked by the staring eye icon. After that, use the search feature (magnifying glass icon). Write the title of the story or any keywords (eg “'romance'”, “'action'”, “'fanfiction'”, and the like). Story search on Wattpad relies on bookmarks and keywords.
Step 2. Pay attention to the details of the story
Once you find a title or cover that looks interesting, read the details of the story. Never judge a book by its cover. You need to find out for yourself. Read the synopsis and book details to see if the story is finished or still continuing, as well as the number of chapters/sections.
Step 3. Select the title you want to read
If you decide to read it, click the orange button labeled “'READ'”, or select another orange button next to the plus sign (“+”). After clicking the button, you will be given the option to add the story to your library or reading list. Click an option. After that, the story will be added to the segment you selected.
Step 4. Use the library
If you added a story to your library, visit the segment (marked by the stack of three books icon). You can see the cover story after accessing the segment. Click on the cover and after that, you will be taken directly to the first chapter or part of the story.

Method 3 of 4: Writing Stories
Step 1. Open the story writing segment
Visit the writing options marked by the pencil icon. Previous posts will be displayed if you have uploaded or written several works. Only library segments can be accessed without a WiFi network. The writing segment requires an internet connection.
Step 2. Create a story
Select “'Create new story'” to create a new story or, if you have already started a story, click “'Edit another story'”.
Step 3. Add details to the work
Write a title, add a description (optional), and upload a cover story (optional). After that, you can write the first part of the story (you will be taken directly to the draft page for the first part).
A good cover can grab the reader's attention. Take the time to choose the right colors, wallpapers, and fonts to create a great cover
Step 4. Write your story
Unfortunately, there are no steps on how to write a story. Write what you want and don't get hung up on other people's comments or thoughts. Get your ideas or thoughts out as freely as possible. The process of writing a story should be enjoyable, and not stressful.
- Some people are spontaneous writers, while others prefer to plan the details of the story in advance before starting to write. Whatever your “character”, it is important that you have a strong storyline, characters with different personalities, and an interesting climax.
- You also need to choose the right genre for the story. For example, if the main focus of the story is romance, you could add the story to the " Romance " category.
Step 5. Save the job
When you want to take a break, press the “Save” button. The draft of the post will be saved to the compose segment. Click the story again to continue writing, and select a draft with an appropriate title. For example, if you want to continue the draft titled " Chapter One ", click the draft with the same title.
Step 6. Publish the story
You can publish stories to save work. Keep in mind that when you publish posts to Wattpad, your stories can be accessed by users/members of the Wattpad community. Some people like to publish their work in order to receive criticism or suggestions for their writing.
Method 4 of 4: Interacting with the Wattpad Community
Step 1. Greet the Wattpad community
Visit the club to get information and socialize with other users. There are various useful threads and chats within the club. This feature makes Wattpad a special site because it combines writing media with social media websites.
- You must be a verified user to access this feature or function.
- Clubs are a great medium to promote your story or find writers who are similar to you.
Step 2. Support the stories you read
Give feedback to the author after you've read a story you liked. There's nothing more pleasing than a warm comment or greeting from a fan. Feedback like this can be the encouragement a writer needs to write the next story or chapter. You can also contribute suggestions or help correct any grammar or spelling mistakes found in the story.
Step 3. Comment on the story
When you see a paragraph or sentence that you want to comment on, you can mark it by holding your finger on the sentence/paragraph until the segment is blue, then clicking the “'comment'” button. If, someone has already commented on the paragraph/comment, click the quotes button next to the paragraph.
Step 4. Vote for works you like
Voting is an interesting aspect of the Wattpad community similar to Facebook likes. To vote for a story or part of it, click on the star icon displayed on the toolbar.
