Do you want sexy beach-style curls to kick off an adventurous summer or want to spice up your look in the middle of winter? Whatever the purpose, all you need to get beach-style curls is a hair straightener and hair spray. If you want to know how to style your hair into beach curls, follow these steps.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Creating Alternating Curls
Step 1. Dry the hair
Your hair will be easier to get wavy when dry. If you get soaked, your hair will be damaged and won't be wavy. You can use a flat iron on slightly damp hair.
Step 2. Turn on the hair straightener
You will need a flat iron with iron plates on both sides to make your hair wavy. A 2.5 cm long iron plate will suffice. Give it a minute or two before it heats up. If you can adjust the heat level on this vise, choose a medium heat level so that the resulting waves are just right. If the heat level is too high, your hair will look stiff.
Step 3. Divide the hair into sections (optional)
By doing so, you will not be bothered by hair that is not curled. This makes the process easier, especially if you have thick hair, but splitting your hair will take more time. If you're dividing your hair into sections, you'll need to pin the top section of your hair so you can create the bottom curls first. If you prefer not to divide your hair into sections, you can start anywhere. As the number of curled hair increases, the less the number of hairs that must be divided into sections.
Step 4. Place 2.5-5 cm thick hair between the iron plates
You can start making curls about 7.5-10 cm from the base of your hair. If you curl your hair from the roots, your hair will look too bouncy.
Step 5. Fold the hair back
Once your hair is between the iron plates, fold it back, away from your face and hold for a few seconds.
Step 6. Fold the hair forward
At this point you can either pull the straightener by the ends of your hair or let it go and move it down about 5-7.5 cm before you fold it forward in a different direction from the way you folded it previously.
Step 7. Continue this process until the ends of the hair
Keep moving the flat iron down and back and forth until you reach the ends of your hair. You can leave 5-7.5 cm of hair untouched by the flat iron at the bottom of your hair to create a natural, non-stiffening look.
Step 8. Continue this process on the rest of your hair
Continue this process all over your hair until all of your hair is in beachy curls. If you're dividing your hair into sections with bobby pins, you can remove some of the unstyled hair by removing the bobby pins until all of them are done.
- So that all the curls don't stick to each other, you can arrange them alternately by starting to move the curler forward first and then alternating back first. Thus, each section of the hair will curl in a different direction. You also don't have to curl your hair at exactly the same point.
- When you get to the outermost part of the hair, you can pin the top part of the hair that is not curled to the side. So if you're curling the top right section of hair, you can pin the left section of hair to the side of your head so it doesn't get in the way.
Step 9. Check your hair
Check both sides of your head and try to look at the back with the help of a mirror to make sure you've made the curls evenly. If one side looks more curly than the other, try making more beach curls on the other side to balance it out.
Step 10. Spray hairspray
This way your beach curls will last longer.
Method 2 of 3: Simple Curls
Step 1. Turn on the vise
You will need a flat iron with two iron plates to create the curls. A vise with a 2.5 cm long slab is enough to do this. Give it a minute or two to really heat up.
Step 2.
Step 3. Place 2.5-5 cm thick hair between the iron plates
Step 4. Create curls by moving the vise forward
Gently move the vise forward, away from your face and leave a few inches at the bottom untouched. Turn the vise only once and then pull. You can hold the lower part of the hair with your other hand for more control.
Step 5. Place another 2.5-5 cm thick section of hair between the iron plates
Select a section of hair that is in the section of hair you just made into curls.
Step 6. Create curls by moving the iron back
Do the same process as when you made the curls by moving the vise forward, but this time you move it in a different direction.
Step 7. Continue this process until you have all your hair curled
Alternately moving the flat iron back and forth helps your curls not to pile up and gives your hair a light, less frizzy appearance. This method makes your hair less curly than the curly or alternating curls.
Step 8. Spray hair spray
This product will make your curls last longer.
Method 3 of 3: Pin Curls
Step 1. Turn on the vise
You will need a flat iron with two iron plates to create the curls. A vise with a 2.5 cm long slab is enough to do this. Give it a minute or two to really heat up.
Step 2.
Step 3. Take 2.5-5 cm thick hair
Step 4. Wrap the section of hair between two fingers
Wrap your hair around your index and middle fingers until you create dense pin curls.
Step 5. Pull two fingers from between the hair and hold the curls
Release these two fingers and keep the curls in shape with the other fingers.
Step 6. Heat the curls
Place the curls between the iron plates and hold for a few seconds. Be careful when you place it between the metal plates so you don't burn your fingers.
Step 7. Remove the vise
When removing the vise, you can squeeze these curls and then release them.
Step 8. Repeat this process on the other hair
Continue this process all over your hair until you have all your hair in beachy curls. This method gives a more fluffy appearance than the regular curling method.
Step 9. Spray hair spray onto hair
This will help maintain your beach-style curls.
Warning
- Do not touch the metal plate because it can burn the skin.
- Make sure you turn off the vise when you're done.
