This wikiHow teaches you how to block access to certain websites in Firefox. You can block access in several ways on your computer. Meanwhile, iPhone users can use the built-in Restriction feature on the device and Android device users can use a free application called "BlockSite".

Method 1 of 4: Using BlockSite on a Desktop Browser

Step 1. Open Firefox
Click or double-click the Firefox browser icon, which looks like an orange fox on top of a blue globe.

This add-on allows you to block websites and prevent blocked sites from being removed via a password lock.

If you skip this step, Block Site will only redirect users who want to access the blocked site to a page with the text " Restricted Access"

Step 11. Add the website to the block list
Scroll to the "Block a new hostname" text field at the bottom of the page, click the field, and type in the web address you want to block.

Method 2 of 4: Using the Hosts File on a Desktop Computer

Step 1. Open the "hosts" file
You can open it on a Windows computer or a Mac computer, but you will need to use administrator rights to access the hosts file.
If you are using a computer with limited rights (or a nonadministrator account), you cannot use the hosts file to block Firefox browsing
