Disneyland Paris is the most visited theme park in Europe. It covers an area of 5262 km2 and is located only about 32 km east of Paris. This playground can be easily reached by airplane, train and car.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Traveling by Train
Step 1. Find the nearest Mtro or RER station
The RER (Réseau Express Régional) is a high-speed rail network that runs from the center of Paris to the surrounding areas. There are 16 train lines and 5 RER lines running through the city of Paris. If the metro and RER stations are close to each other, choose the RER as this is a fast train.
- Look for alternative rail lines; depending on the starting location, there may be a faster train. For example, the TGV (Train Grande Vitesse, or high-speed train) has a direct route from Charles-de-Gaulle airport to Disneyland Paris.
- There are also Eurostar trains that go directly to Disneyland Paris from several places in the UK.
Step 2. Purchase an Ile-de-France Billet
You can buy these tickets at any metro or RER ticket counter, or from vending machines located throughout Paris. If you are traveling from central Paris (Zone 1 public transport), this is the only ticket you need to buy.
- One-way tickets from central Paris are priced at 8 Euros (approximately 138 thousand rupiah) as of August 2018.
- T+ tickets CANNOT be used on this trip as your final stop is in Zone 5. Don't be too stingy. You can be fined 35 Euros (around 600 thousand rupiah) if you buy the wrong ticket or get off in the wrong zone.
- Navigo Decouverte tickets can be used.
- Paris Visite Cards and Mobilis Tickets can also be used ONLY IF you include Zone 5 in your trip.
- Jeune Weekend tickets can be used ONLY IF you are using Zone 5 and you are under 26 years old, and traveling on weekends or public holidays.
Step 3. Take the RER A train
If the nearest RER station does not provide train A service, you will have to take another RER or Metro line and change to RER A train. For example, if you are traveling from Charles de Gaulle airport, take the RER B train to Paris and change to the RER A train the destination of Marne la Valleé at the Châtelet Les Halles station.
Step 4. Take the RER A train bound for Marne la Valleé – Chessy
Street signs sometimes also read "Boissy-St-Legér" along with "Marne-la-Valleé". While waiting for the train, make sure the stop sign hanging above the station platform has a yellow square next to Marne-la-Valleé - Chessy station.
- If the route Marne la Valleé - Chessy isn't written on the signpost, you're on the wrong platform.
- Keep the ticket in a safe place when boarding the RER so that it can be shown to the ticket checking officer (known as the "control officer").
Step 5. Exit the station and walk to Disneyland Paris
The Marne-la-Valleé/Chessy stop is just a 2-minute walk to the park gates. Exit the RER train station and take the escalator while following the sign that says “Sortie”. Use the Ile-de-France billet card at the turnstile to exit.
Method 2 of 3: Traveling by Car
Step 1. Use the map to find directions to the playground
Services like Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, or Mapquest will provide detailed directions and even guide you through traffic jams. Use this service if you have a travel partner accompanying you on a ride. The Disneyland parking lot is located at Boulevard de Parc, 77700 Coupvray, FR (48°52'33.9"N 2°47'47.3"E).
Step 2. Come to France
From the UK the Eurotunnel Shuttle will direct your vehicle from Folkestone to Calais. Alternatively, there are ferries that operate along British waters, such as the P&O ferry that runs from Dover to Calais. If you are trying to get to France via another European country, there are many fast lanes on the E-road network that can take you to France.
Step 3. Follow the map or your itinerary until you arrive at the playground
There are plenty of directions to the amusement park parking lot on the Autoroute and E-road freeways to guide you. From the north, take the A26 from Calais and enter the A4 while following the signs to “Metz/Nancy” if you don't see the sign leading to the playground. From the south, follow the motorway to “Paris” and follow the signs to Disneyland Paris.
- Some motorways in France are freeways. So, be prepared to pay the necessary fees.
- There is no parking fee if you stay at a Disneyland hotel, but you will be charged for parking if you stay elsewhere.
Method 3 of 3: Traveling by Air
Step 1. Book a flight to Paris
When choosing your destination airport, be aware that Charles de Gaulle airport and Orly airport provide direct routes to the Disneyland Paris theme park with a travel time of 45 minutes. Charles de Gaulle Airport even provides a direct TGV route to the gates of Disneyland Paris. Beauvais-Tille also provides direct routes with travel durations of one and a half hours.
Step 2. Plan a transportation route from the airport to the playground
There are tons of options, including direct routes from major airports and TGV trains from Charles de Gaulle airport to the playground. You can also easily rent a car, take the train, or take a taxi.
Step 3. Find the right ground transportation
Once you land in Paris, the travel service provider will provide directions to make sure you can find the right bus. If you want to rent a car, follow the signs at the airport to find a suitable rental place to complete your reservation. If you choose to take the train route, you can also find signs for directions to the RER or TGV stations (Charles de Gaulle airport only) after picking up your luggage.
Tips
- Disneyland Paris offers a complete package, including a combination of travel and lodging accommodations that might save you some money.
- Don't be afraid to ask locals for help finding directions to a metro station or to the right train line. If you can, ask in French.
- If you can't use a vending machine, go to the Metro or RER ticket counter. Tell the clerk that you want to go to Disneyland Paris so he can give you the right ticket.
