WhatsApp is a free messaging service that is very popular and widely used all over the world. To use it, WhatsApp users must activate an account with a verification code sent to their mobile number. Although there is no reliable way to avoid using verification codes, you can easily create a free alternative cell phone number to activate. This is especially useful if you don't have a cell phone or don't want to use your phone number for WhatsApp. This wikiHow teaches you how to activate WhatsApp without using your phone number on an Android or iOS device, and how to activate it on a computer without using your phone.

Method 1 of 4: Getting a New Mobile Number
Step 1. Install Google Voice on your tablet or phone

Google Voice is a free application that can be found on the Play Store
(Android) or the App Store
(iOS). Look for Google Voice in the search field.
Step 2. Open the Google Voice website or app
The icon is a white cell phone inside a green conversation bubble. You can find it on the home screen or the list of apps.
Step 3. Sign in to your Google account to continue
- On a computer, you may first need to select For Personal Use or For Work before logging into your account.
- If you don't have a Google account yet, create one by tapping Add account at the bottom of the screen and Create account on the next screen. After that, you'll need to create a Gmail email address for the Google account.
Step 4. Tap Search in the bottom right corner
This will search for available phone numbers in the area near you.
- On the computer, start a search by selecting Continue.
- If you are using a computer, you may also have to choose Android, iOS, or Desktop. Choose Android because we will use WhatsApp via Android emulator.
Step 5. Select the city closest to your location
A list of available phone numbers in the area will be displayed. You can also enter the name of the city in the search field.
Step 6. Touch or click Select next to the desired phone number
Step 7. Select Accept number at the bottom of the next screen
You can also touch the back arrow icon
if you want to use another number.
Step 8. Touch Next to link the device to Google Voice
On the computer, select Verify
Step 9. Click or touch the box used to enter the phone number

If you don't have a cell phone number, use a landline number or a friend's number if he or she allows. You only need temporary access to this number in order to complete the process
Step 10. Select Send code to get a verification code
If you're using a landline, you'll need to touch Verify by phone.
Step 11. Enter the verification code you received
If you don't receive a phone call or text message, tap Resend code.
Step 12. Touch the drop box arrow
to make a choice.
Select " No " if you do not want to use the number in the long term.
- Select Yes(all calls) if you want to use the phone number for the standard phone application.
- Select Yes(international calls only) if you want to use the number for international calls only. Google Voice will charge $0.01 (approximately 150 rupiah) per minute to make international calls.
- Select Select number before each call if you want to select your number before making a phone call.
- Select No if you don't want to use your Google Voice phone number when using the standard phone app.
Step 13. Touch or click Next, then Finish to complete the process.
Now you have a mobile number that you can use for free to activate WhatsApp.
On a computer, you are also given the option to link your landline to a Google Voice number while going through this process
Method 2 of 4: Enabling WhatsApp on iOS and Android
Step 1. Install WhatsApp to your tablet or phone

(iOS). Look for WhatsApp in the search field.
- If you already use WhatsApp on your phone, delete the app and reinstall it so you can use the new number.
Step 2. Run WhatsApp

Step 3. Touch Agree and Continue at the bottom of the screen
Step 4. Enter the new mobile number into the box, then tap Next
You will receive a text message at this number from WhatsApp.
Step 5. Touch OK in the pop-up window to verify the mobile number
Step 6. Open the verification text message via Google Voice
If the message doesn't exist, tap Resend SMS or Call me to get a verification code.
Step 7. Enter the verification code on WhatsApp
This app will automatically verify the numbers you entered.
Step 8. Touch Not Now or Continue in the pop-up window.
Select "Continue" if you want to back up WhatsApp to Google Drive now.
Step 9. Finish the setup by typing the name on the next screen
Now you have successfully activated WhatsApp with an alternative phone number.
Method 3 of 4: Enabling WhatsApp on Windows Computer
Step 1. Run a web browser on the computer
Step 2. Visit the BlueStacks site

- BlueStacks is a very popular free Android emulator. If you choose another emulator, it will be similar to this method. You don't have to use BlueStacks, but an Android emulator is still needed to continue the process.
Step 3. Select Download at the top center of the screen
Next, you will be asked to choose a location to place the downloaded file.
Step 4. Run and install the BlueStacks file that you downloaded and saved on your computer
This process will set the location to install BlueStacks and some other features you want to customize in the installation process.
Step 5. Run BlueStacks
The icon is a stack of green, yellow, red, and blue squares, which are usually found on the desktop. You can also find it by clicking Start
and enter BlueStacks in the search field.
You'll need to be signed in to your Google account the first time you run BlueStacks
Step 6. Open Play Store
on the home screen.

Step 7. Search for WhatsApp in the top search field

WhatsApp will automatically verify the number you entered.

Select "Continue" if you want to back up WhatsApp to Google Drive now.

Method 4 of 4: Enabling WhatsApp Web on Computer
Step 1. Run a web browser on the computer
You can do it the same way on Windows and Mac.

Step 3. Launch WhatsApp on Android or iOS device

Step 4. Tap the Menu icon in the top right corner
Step 5. Tap WhatsApp Web in the drop-down menu

Maybe you should first allow WhatsApp to access the camera. Follow the given instructions to continue
Step 7. Face the phone's camera to the computer screen
If the QR code is in the middle of the box, the application will recognize the code and you can enter WhatsApp Web.
