This wikiHow teaches you how to create a calendar in Google Docs. You can create calendars manually by using tables, or you can also use templates from Google.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Using Tables
Step 1. Open the Google Docs site by going to
The Google Docs site will open if you have signed in with a Google account.
If you haven't logged in using your Google account, you will be asked to register using your Google account email address and password
Step 2. Tap Blank in the top-left corner of the "Start a new document" option row near the top of the page
This will open a new Google Doc template.
Step 3. Enter the name of the month
Type in the name of the month you created for the calendar, then press Enter. This will put the month name at the top of the calendar.
Step 4. Press the Table tab
You'll find this option at the top left of the page. A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 5. Click Insert table
This option can be found at the top of the drop-down menu under “Table”. Selecting this option will bring up a pop-out window with a grid of cubes.
Step 6. Create a table of seven by six columns
Move the mouse cursor to select the seven columns at the top of the pop-out window, then move the cursor down six rows. After getting a table shaped like this, left mouse click to insert the table.
- The rectangular table that initially measures five by five will become wider as the mouse moves.
- Depending on the month you're creating on your calendar, you may need seven rows instead of six (for example, if the day at the beginning of the month is Thursday, Friday, or Saturday).
Step 7. Enter the name of the day of the week
In the top row of the calendar, type all the names of the days.
For example, enter “Sunday” in the upper left box, “Monday” in the box to the right of “Sunday”, and so on
Step 8. Add the date
Type the date number of each day into each box.
Step 9. Resize calendar
Click and drag the black horizontal line at the bottom of the calendar to expand the bottom row of the table cells, then repeat for other rows on the calendar. This will make the cells on the calendar large enough to hold the information.
Resizing the calendar will also make the date number at the top left of the cell
Step 10. Repeat for each month
When you're done entering the tables, you'll have a table for each month of the year.
Step 11. Make the settings on the calendar as desired
Experiment with calendar settings. Some common options include:
- Use bold, italic, and underline in calendar text.
- Change the font and size of the text for various aspects of the calendar.
- Change the color of a box, column, or row by selecting what you want to change, then click Table, click Table properties, and change the value to Cell background color.
Step 12. Exit the document
When you have finished creating the calendar, you can close the tab or window that you are using. You'll be able to reopen it from the Google Docs page, as well as from the Google Drive page.
