Diamonds are the only way to craft the best weapons and gear in Minecraft PE and they are also one of the hardest to find. Diamonds are very rare objects and require dedication and patience to find them. To maximize your chances of mining diamonds in Minecraft PE, see Step 1 below

Method 1 of 2: Preparation for Mining
Step 1. Make an Iron Pickaxe or better, so you can earn diamonds while you mine Diamond ore
To make an Iron Pickaxe, you will need 3 Iron Rods and 2 Sticks.
Step 2. Collect food
Diamonds are found at the lowest level in the game, so the journey will be a long one. You have to make sure that you have the supplies to be able to stay and mine for a sufficient period of time.
Step 3. Bring some weapons
You'll be in the deepest reachable part of the Minecraft world, so you're sure to run into some bad enemies. Make sure you have some good armor and a reliable sword before embarking on your journey.
Method 2 of 2: Finding Diamonds
Step 1. Dig straight down until you find the bedrock
This is the lowest position you can reach in this world and will help you figure out how deep you are when mining. Diamond ore is usually found in layers 1-15, with the highest concentration around the 8th layer.
Step 2. Start your mining
Once you've found the bedrock, head back up until you're around level 8 and start your mining. Dig a main room about 2 blocks high, 4 blocks long and 4 blocks wide.
- Some players like to start mining around the 11th layer. This will result in a slightly less chance of finding diamonds, but you'll likely be digging directly into the lava pit less this way.
- It is recommended that you create a chest in the main room of your mine so that you have a place to store excess ore as you build the mine.
Step 3. Create a branch
Dig a corridor 2 blocks high and at least 50 blocks long in each direction. This is the beginning of your branches. Walk through one of your corridors and start mining left and right every six blocks. This will maximize your efficiency in the number of blocks you can see as you mine.
Step 4. Keep digging
Diamonds are extremely rare, especially in Minecraft PE and make up less than 1% of the block count at lower levels. Finding diamonds is more of a game of luck than anything else and patience is the most important thing to have when mining them.
Tips
- If you don't have iron, bring a large number of pickaxes and find iron while you are underground.
- Be careful and pay attention to water and sand, because you can get crushed or drown.
- Bring lots of torches, because you can be down there, mining for a while.
