Want to satisfy the urge to be Indiana Jones in Minecraft? Try looking for the Desert Temple. Desert Temple is a rare building that appears randomly in the desert area. In addition to its awesome shape, you can also find rare treasure chests and loot. Finding the Desert Temple takes a bit of luck, as there is no surefire way to pinpoint the location of the building. However, if you manage to find the Desert Temple, you'll know how to find it from your previous experience.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Locating Desert Temple
Step 1. Create a new world or enter an existing world
Start the Minecraft game as usual. You can potentially find a Desert Temple on a map that has a desert area. Playing alone or with other people on the internet won't be a problem finding Desert Temple.
- However, in multiplayer games, it's possible that the Desert Temple you've managed to find has been looted or damaged by other players before you can find it. Therefore, play the single player world so that you can find a Desert Temple that is still “real” and has never been touched by other players.
- If you don't want to bother looking for Desert Temple, you can look for Minecraft world seeds on the internet which can make finding Desert Temple easier. For example, the following seed can create a world with a Desert Temple that appears near the spawn point (where you appear in the game). This seed should work in version 1.8 of the game:
- Seeds: 8678942899319966093
Step 2. Discover the vast desert
Desert Temple appears randomly in the desert biome. Every desert does not always have a Desert Temple, because the desert may have more than one Desert Temple or none at all. Therefore, you should start looking for the building in the widest desert you can find, because the wider the desert, the greater the chance that Desert Temple will appear there.
Unfortunately, there is no surefire way to find the desert. Deserts are made from world seeds, so if you're not very familiar with the world you're in, you may have to wander around for quite a while, especially if you're not lucky and the world you're in doesn't have much desert. However, there are cheats that can be done outside of the game. See the guide below to find out how
Step 3. Find the pyramid shape of the Desert Temple
Once in the desert, you can start looking for a large box-shaped building that looks like a pyramid made of sandstone from a distance. Desert Temple has two tall square towers in front of the temple with a crest made of orange clay. You can see the buildings from a distance, because the desert doesn't have so many things that can block your vision like mountains.
Desert Temple ''always''' appears along with its floor at coordinates y=64,000. In some cases, these coordinates can make part of the building buried. If you look at the small pyramids without the rest of the temples, you may be looking at the buried end of the Desert Temple
Step 4. If you have a map (map), look for a gray mark that looks like a box
Having a map can make it easier to find the Desert Temple and also help you find your way back home once you find it. On the map, Desert Temple can be identified as a gray marking similar to a rock, but the building has a box-like shape that rock deposits usually don't.

Step 5. Use Desert Temple Finder application if you are tired of searching Desert Temple
Have you been trying to find Desert Temple using the usual old ways and getting frustrated at failing to find it? Don't worry, because there are other ways to find it. Use the online Desert Temple Finder app from chunkbase.com to get the coordinates of all the Desert Temples on the map. You can simply enter a world seed (or select the “random” option to get a random seed), then click “Find Desert Temples”, then zoom in and out of the map to find the location of the Desert Temple on the map.

Notes:
Basically, pressing the F3 key (or pressing the Function key and F3 on a Mac) in a game will bring up a menu containing the x/y/z coordinates.
Method 2 of 2: Loot Desert Temple
Step 1. Enter the central room of the Desert Temple
Desert Temple can be entered through a small entrance in front of the building flanked by two square towers. You can find a dark room with a blue clay block and a diamond-shaped crest made of orange clay inside. The emblem signifies the secret location of the treasure chest in the Desert Temple.
If you find a buried Desert Temple, you don't have to dig through the blocks that contain the building to reach the entrance to enter it. You can enter through the hole at the top of the pyramid to enter the room. Be careful with the damage taken from falling when entering the building through the hole
Step 2. Carefully dig the blocks under the emblem to avoid traps
Beneath the diamond-shaped emblem is a 3x3 room containing four chests containing valuable items such as gold ingots, horse armor, and even rare items such as diamonds and enchanted books. However, in the middle of the small room was a rock pressure plate (stone pressure plate) connected to nine TNT blocks. If you step on the plate, you will die and the treasure chest in the room will disappear. You should carefully dig from the side of the slab to get to the room, as the slab sits directly under the blue clay block.
A great way to avoid plates when digging is to turn the blocks into a number of steps that lead to a secret room. The steps should be dug a few blocks away from the room, as you'll be able to enter the room from the side, not from the top, so your chances of stepping on a plate or taking damage from a fall are slimmer
Step 3. Dig out the pressure plate
When you reach the room containing the small treasure chest, take a moment to turn off the trap. Use a pickaxe to dig out the block of rock pressure plates in the center of the room without having to touch them. Once the pressure plate is gone, the chamber should be safe to enter as long as you don't manually turn on the TNT.
Step 4. Take the loot
The four treasure chests in the room contain a wide variety of items, from common to rare items. Each chest contains two to six stacks of items, where each stack contains one to several of the same item. Here's a list of items that can be found in Desert Temple - note that these items are rare so they don't always appear in all Desert Temples:
- Iron ingot (iron ingot)
- Gold bar
- Diamond
- Emerald (emerald)
- Saddle (saddle)
- Horse armor (iron horse armor)/gold horse armor (gold horse armor)/diamond horse armor
- Enchanted book
Warning
- Bring weapons and armor, as there is no light inside the Desert Temple so mobs can appear there.
- In rare cases, a mob can appear in a room containing a treasure chest and then step on a pressure plate causing the chest to shatter before you can find it. Unfortunately, cases like this cannot be prevented.
