In Minecraft, buckets are used to carry fluids, such as water, lava and milk.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Getting Iron Bars
Step 1. Look for iron ore
Mine with a pickaxe of stone, iron or diamond.
Step 2. Melt the iron ore in a furnace
You need 3 bars.
Part 2 of 3: Making a Bucket
Step 1. Go to the crafting table or box
Step 2. Place the three iron ingots into the crafting box
The bar should be laid out in a "V" shape, so try:
- 2 iron bars in the middle side box and one in the middle of the bottom box; or
- 2 ingots in the top side of the box and one in the middle of the box.
Step 3. Let the bucket be created
Click shift or drag the bucket to your inventory.
Part 3 of 3: Using the Bucket
Step 1. Water:
Look for water in ponds, rivers, lakes, oceans, etc. Right click with the bucket in your hand to fill it. Water is one of those fluids that you can put in without spoiling it.
Step 2. Lava:
Look for underground lava in the lava pool. Although rare, you can find pools of lava that appear above the surface. Right click with the bucket in your hand to fill it. Be careful not to drop the lava while picking it up. Also be careful not to place the bucket filled with lava in such a way that it could set your house on fire (and kill your character).
Step 3. Milk:
Right click on a cow. This is one of the fluids that cannot be placed in the unmodified version of the game. You can use it to make cakes or drink it to rid yourself of the negative or positive effects of the potion (depending on the ingredient).
Tips
- Empty buckets will accumulate in your inventory; buckets filled with liquid will not accumulate.
- Use a bucket to get a bag of air while in the water. Right click while holding the empty bucket and your character will get a bag of air temporarily forming around his head. This will continue until the air meter is refilled. It can be used repeatedly if there are blocks around it; Empty the bucket onto the block by right clicking, then breathe again. Stick to the bucket as long as you need it to stay underwater.
