In Minecraft, a bookcase (Bookshelf) can turn a house into a beautiful library. For players who are more concerned with the function of items, the bookcase can also increase the yield of items from the enchantment table. Making a bookshelf from scratch can take some time, as you'll have to find the ingredients. Luckily, you don't need any rare items to make them so even novice Minecraft players can make them.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Making a Bookcase
Step 1. Take the bookcase in the NPC village (optional)
Villages and strongholds often have bookcases. Take the bookshelf using the ax to get three books from a cupboard. If you do this step, you can skip the rest of this guide to the last step of how to make cabinets. If you don't do this step, go to the next step.
- This article can help you find a village.
- If you have a tool that has the enchantment of Silk Touch, you can take the entire bookcase.
Step 2. Collect sugar cane
Sugar cane is a tall green plant that is similar to reed or bamboo (bamboo). You can find this plant near water and you can pick it up with any tool. You need nine canes to make a bookcase.
Step 3. Turn sugar cane into paper (paper)
Open the crafting table and place three sugarcane in a horizontal row. You will get three pieces of paper each time you turn sugar cane into paper. Repeat this step until you have nine papers that you can use to make a bookcase.
Step 4. Turn paper into a book
Three pieces of paper can be turned into a book (book), and you need three books to make a bookcase. These bookcase recipes vary depending on how you play Minecraft:
- For all PC and console versions: Get leather by killing cows. Place a leather and three pieces of paper in the crafting area of the crafting table to make a 2x2 square bookcase. The place of laying the materials does not affect the manufacture of cabinets.
-
For Minecraft Pocket Edition:
Place three pieces of paper in a vertical column. You don't need skin to make a book.
Step 5. Join the books with wood planks to make a bookcase
Place three books in the center of the crafting area on the crafting table. Fill the top and bottom rows with wooden planks to make a bookcase.
As you know, you can get wooden planks by placing logs in the crafting table. You can get logs by chopping wood with an ax
Method 2 of 2: Using the Bookcase
Step 1. Make an enchantment table
In addition to decorating the house, bookcases can be used to increase the enchantment table. You can make an enchantment table by following this recipe:
- In the bottom row: three obsidian blocks.
- In the middle row: diamond (diamond), obsidian block, diamond
- In the top row: (empty), book, (empty)
Step 2. Place the bookcase near the enchantment table
Each bookcase placed near the enchantment table can unlock stronger enchantments. You must place the bookcase according to the following guidelines so that the bookcase can be connected to the enchantment table:
- Place the bookcase two blocks from the enchantment table.
- Place the bookcase a level higher than the enchantment table or on the same level.
- The space between the bookcase and the enchantment table should be empty. Carpets, torches or snowfall can interfere with the performance of enchantment tables and cabinets.
Step 3. Place fifteen bookcases for the best enchantment
The highest level of enchantment can be obtained if you place the fifteen books as described earlier. There are several easy ways to do this step:
- Surround the enchantment table with bookcases that are placed and arranged so that they are box-shaped, then leave an empty space between the two items. Leave an empty space so you can approach and use the enchantment table.
- In addition to the method above, you can also arrange eight bookcases so that they are L-shaped with a size of 4x5 blocks. Place the second stack of eight bookcases on top of the L-shaped bookcase. You can make seven instead of eight for the bookcase set on the enchantment table, as you only need fifteen.
Step 4. Place the torch to adjust the enchantment level
Some enchantments are only available at lower enchantment levels. You should save XP by making low-level enchantments. To do this step, place a torch, or other item that can be removed easily, between the "enchantment table" and the bookcase. Any cabinets that are blocked will reduce the enchantment level of the enchantment table.
