If you want to use Instagram's new features early, you can become an Instagram beta tester. Beta users can try out various new features before the product is officially released. That way, you can tell your followers about the features or you can familiarize yourself with the app before anyone else does. Cool, right ? This article answers some frequently asked questions regarding Instagram beta testers.
Step
Question 1 of 5: What is Instagram beta?
Step 1. Instagram beta gives Android users the opportunity to get early access to apps that will be released later
In other words, you get to experience new features that haven't been released before anyone else does. You can also provide app makers with feedback on the feature to help improve it.
For example, "dark mode" is a new Instagram feature that beta testers should try out about a month before it's included in the regular app
Question 2 of 5: Can iOS users become Instagram beta testers?
Step 1. At the moment, Instagram beta is only available for Android devices
Unfortunately, iPhone users or those who use Instagram on Apple devices can't be beta testers. Maybe this feature will be available on iOS devices in the future.
You can be aware of any new changes by setting a Google news alert with the keyword “Instagram beta iOS”, or checking the news regularly in the online user community
Question 3 of 5: How do I sign up for Instagram's beta tester program?
Step 1. Open the Instagram app inside the Play Store
Run the Play Store app on the Android device. Type “Instagram” into the search field, then click the app that appears to go to the home page.
The steps are exactly the same as when you just downloaded Instagram for the first time. So, this is nothing new, unless you've never really installed Instagram and jump right in to become a beta tester
Step 2. Select “Join Beta” at the bottom
Scroll through the Instagram application home screen until you see the words "Join Beta". Tap “Join” at the bottom left of the screen, then tap “Join” again in the popup window that appears.
- Once you do, a message will appear on the app's home screen letting you know that you've signed up to be a beta tester, and asking you to spare a few minutes.
- After signing up, the full version of Instagram on the device will automatically change to the beta version. That's the only process! Now you can start exploring the new features available to beta users.
Question 4 of 5: Can I leave the beta program?
Step 1. You can exit the beta program at any time
Return to the Instagram app in the Play Store, then scroll down until you see "You're a beta tester", and tap "Leave". Confirm your decision by touching “Leave” again in the popup window that appears.
The beta version of Instagram will be removed and devices will install the regular version. This can take a few minutes like when you joined the beta program earlier
Question 5 of 5: Is Instagram beta safe?
Step 1. Yes, but this beta version may not be stable yet
This version may crash frequently or have more bugs than the regular version. In terms of security and safety, the beta version is just as secure as the regular version of the app.
- Instagram beta is actually just a version of the app that comes with features that haven't been released yet, but it still has the same basic functionality and security standards as the regular version.
- If you don't feel comfortable using the beta version of Instagram, you can delete it at any time and go back to the regular version of Instagram.
