Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest, and many other social media sites use hashtags to create quick connections between their users. When a user uses a hashtag to search for a specific word or topic, he or she will see all posts containing the hashtagged word or topic. The use of hashtags is easy and practical to learn, along with the development of social media as the main channel of communication.

Method 1 of 2: Using Hashtags In Twitter
Step 1. Understand what a hashtag is first
The world of Twitter is vast and, perhaps, a little confusing to explore. Hashtags are one of the most mainstream and efficient ways to organize the information on Twitter. Anyone can create a hashtag whenever they want, just by typing a phrase with the format “#topic” in the created tweet.
- For example, if you are tweeting about an article you are reading, you might type “Read a #wikihow article about using #hashtags (or #hashtags) on #twitter.” Then anyone searching for a #wikihow, #hashtag, #hashtag, or #twitter topic will see your tweet.
- Once the hashtag has been created, other Twitter users can use the hashtag in their tweets to create a wider chat about the topic on that hashtag. The topics listed in hashtags can be general topics (#wikiHow) or more specific topics (#How toCreateHashtagsOnTwitter). The hashtag itself is actually a kind of 'organization' created and managed entirely by Twitter users, not Twitter itself.
Step 2. Create your own hashtag
How to create a hashtag is the same as inserting an existing hashtag in your tweet. Just type in the topic phrase you want in the format “#topic.” Don't insert spaces between the phrases you want to hashtag, because hashtags start with a hash mark ('#') and end with the first space that comes after the phrase. When you click the 'Tweet,' your tweet will appear in your tweet list, with the created hashtag displayed in blue. Swipe and click on the hashtag to go to the hashtag page. If you create a completely new hashtag, your tweet will be the only tweet on your hashtag page. Then, whenever someone includes a hashtag that you created in their tweet, the tweet that they created will go to the hashtags page.
Step 3. Insert existing hashtags in your tweet
You just need to type a topic phrase with the format “#topic” in your tweet. Once you hit the 'Tweet,' button your tweet will appear in the tweets list, with hashtags marked in blue. Swipe to see the hashtagged tweet and click the hashtag to go to the hashtags page. Your tweet will appear on the hashtag page and be visible to other users visiting the page.
If you want to use an existing hashtag, make sure that the spelling you type is correct and that there are no spaces between words that you insert into the hashtag. Also, capitalization will not affect search results. For example, the hashtags “#wikihow,” “#wikiHow,” and “WikiHow” will refer to the same topic when you do a hashtag search
Step 4. Stay polite
When using hashtags, adhere to hashtag usage etiquette. In good use of Twitter, it is recommended that you do not use more than two hashtags in a single tweet, as doing so can be difficult for other Twitter users, as well as make your tweets unreadable.
- Understand the uses of different hashtags. Some hashtags are intended to create a sense of humor (humor), while other hashtags are intended for more serious uses. Make sure you're aware of these differences so you don't anger other Twitter users.
- Only use hashtags that are relevant or relevant to the topic of your tweet.

Step 1. Browse Twitter by using hashtags
By clicking on a particular hashtag (marked in blue), you will be taken to a search results page where there are many tweets containing the hashtag you clicked on. - In the 'Trends' tab on the left of the page, you can see the most popular hashtags at the moment on Twitter. Click on one of the existing hashtags to enter the search results page for that hashtag.

As Twitter has grown, the number of hashtags has also increased. There are many ways to find hashtags related to a topic or thing that interests you. Read the Twitter feeds of the people you follow, and click on any hashtags that interest you.
Step 3. Look up everyday topic hashtags
The use of hashtags has become a growing trend in advertising and can be very entertaining, because anyone can-and will-use hashtags created by certain companies (marketing hashtags) to say whatever they want. To use a marketing hashtag, just insert one of the marketing-related hashtags into your tweet, and you will automatically join the chat on that topic.
As with hashtags created for business purposes, official Twitter accounts for live events, such as awards shows or sporting events, often include a special hashtag in their tweets so event viewers can easily participate in live discussions.. Your tweets can also appear on television screens
Step 4. Pay attention to trends on the internet
You can do an internet search, such as “cool Twitter hashtag” or “interesting Twitter hashtag about…” (interesting Twitter hashtag about…). There are many sites that collect and share hashtags, making it easier for you to find hashtags that match your interests.
Try using another social media app like Instagram or Pinterest. By digging up information related to hashtags on these sites, you will get even more hashtag search results
Tips
- Do a quick search to see if the hashtag you created is a new hashtag, or a hashtag someone else has already used. If you have, there may be some interesting tweets and people you can follow.
- If you find a hashtag that is an abbreviation or acronym, and you can't understand what it means, do a quick Google search to find out what the hashtag means.

- Don't use hashtags for every word you type in your tweet. You will not be appreciated by other Twitter users.
