Hurray! Time to download! You have an iTunes gift card and have searched for many songs and programs that you've been meaning to listen to or watch for a long time. How do I exchange the gift card? Easy, here's how.

Method 1 of 2: From Computer
Step 1. Open iTunes
Once iTunes is running, press the iTunes Store button in the navigation bar on the right side of the screen. If you don't have an iTunes account, create a new one.
Download iTunes from its website if necessary. The app is free and the Apple staff have made it quite simple. Once this application is installed on your computer, create an account and log in
Step 2. Make sure you are signed in to the account you want to use
Your email address will appear on the left side of the box alongside "Music," "Movies," and all the other options.
- If you have any remaining balance, it will also appear next to the email. Note the balance amount will change after you register the gift card.
- If another account is logged in, click on the email that appears and select Sign Out. You will be asked to sign in with a different email address.
Step 3. Click Redeem on the iTunes Store page screen
There are two ways to do this:
- In the panel on the right, Redeem can be found under Quick Links, next to Account, Purchased, and Support.
- Click on your email in the toolbar (aka toolbar). The Account, Redeem, Wish List, Sign Out options will appear.
Step 4. Enter the code
You have to swipe the gray square on the back of the card to reveal a 16-digit number. Each code will tell Apple how many cards or certificates you have. If the code is entered correctly, a box will appear telling you how much credit is in your account.
See which iTunes countries can use iTunes gift cards; This state is irreversible. So, if you're in a country not listed on the card, go to the very bottom of this store page and tap My Store. You can then select the country of your choice
Step 5. Start shopping
Buy songs, videos, audiobooks, games, TV shows, or movies that you love. iTunes will ask for a password for every purchase and won't allow you to buy it if you don't have enough balance, unless you enter other credit card information.
Method 2 of 2: From Handheld
Step 1. Open iTunes app on your device
Scroll down the page to enter the application.
- Sign in to the app if you are not already logged in. Create a new account if you don't have one yet! Apart from being free of cost, it only takes a minute for this. You will be prompted to do so if you are about to log in.
- Redeem will also appear if you have logged in.
Step 2. Tap Redeem. In the text box, enter the 16-digit code on the back of the card. Swipe the previous card to get this code. After entering the code correctly, press Redeem one more time. The balance in your new account will appear.
If you later log in from your computer, your new balance will also appear there
Step 3. Buy something
You can search for a specific item or search the site by genre, chart, featured item or general category (such as TV shows). The more famous an item is, the more expensive it is.
Some states in the US consider iTunes products to be taxed. The terms and conditions say that: Your total price includes the product price plus applicable sales tax; The sales tax is based on the billing address and the sales tax rate will apply at the time you download the product. We only charge taxes in states that tax digital goods. If you live in the US, find out the policies in the state where you live
Tips
- To save money, iTunes offers special prices (and sometimes free!) on certain items. Look for these items in stores.
- Don't be compelled to use all of your gift cards in one session. Don't let yourself regret not being able to buy the songs you really like after spending your balance buying tons of songs you hardly ever listen to.
Warning
- Keep in mind that all the songs you buy may be taxed. If you do not leave your balance to pay taxes, the credit card registered in your account will be charged for this.
- Make sure the shop staff has activated the gift card before you leave the shop. The iTunes card only works once it's activated.
