Google Chrome is a popular web browser used by people all over the world. One of the things I love about Chrome is that users can modify the browser experience according to their taste. You can modify everything in your browser including how download settings work. Download settings are used to select how to handle each download to your computer. Settings are very useful when you want to redirect or change how your downloads are saved. Changing download settings on Chrome to suit your needs can be done in just a few steps.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Accessing Download Settings
Step 1. Launch Chrome
Before you change the download settings, you must open a web browser. You can do this by clicking the Chrome icon on the desktop or the "Start" menu.
The Chrome icon has a red, green, and yellow color on the outside of the circle and a blue circle in the middle
Step 2. Access the "Settings" menu
Once the browser is open, click the box at the top right which has 3 lines. This will bring up a drop-down menu. Click "Settings" on the menu.
Step 3. Access “Advance settings
” When you click “Settings”, a new tab will open and bring up all your browser settings in a window. If you scroll down, you will find a blue button with the words “Show advanced settings”; click this link.
Step 4. Select “Downloads” on the menu
Opening “Advance settings” will cause the window to load a long list of settings. While the settings are loading, scroll down until you find a subtitle that says “Downloads”.
There are two settings you can adjust under “Downloads”
Part 2 of 2: Changing Download Settings
Step 1. Save the download in the default (default) location
The first setting is the location where the downloaded file is saved. You can select this if you want all downloaded files to be stored in a standard folder. The default folder name will appear in the white box next to the selection.
- If you want to change the default folder, click the gray box with “Change” next to the selection. Use the window that will appear to browse through the folders until you find the one you want, then click “OK” to make the folder the default.
- You may also want to change the folder where your downloads are stored when you share your computer with other people.
Step 2. Choose a save location for each download
The next setting under “Downloads” is a checkbox. You can click this box if you want to choose a location to save each download instead of keeping all of them in one folder.
This option is perfect when you're saving downloads by type
Step 3. Exit from the “Downloads Settings” menu
When you have finished making your selections, close the menu. No additional storage options; the settings will change automatically after you replace them.
