This wikiHow teaches you how to back up your settings, bookmarks, passwords, history, and apps in Google Chrome to your Google account. Then, you can restore these settings on a new computer, tablet, or smartphone by signing in to the Google account that you used to back up the settings.

Part 1 of 3: Backing up Google Chrome
Step 1. Launch Google Chrome
Run this browser on your desktop computer if you want to back it up.
Step 2. Click which is in the top right corner
A drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Click Settings
This option is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Click SIGN IN TO CHROME
It's in the upper-right side of the Settings page.
- It's possible that you're already signed in to Google Chrome, if your account name appears under the " People " heading at the top of the page. Once you are logged in, skip the next three steps.
- Click SIGN OUT first if you are signed in to an account that is not the same as the one you want to use to back up Chrome.
Step 5. Enter your email address
Type in the email address for the Google account you want to use, then click NEXT.
Step 6. Enter the password
Type in the password for the email address you entered, then click NEXT.
Step 7. Click the OK button, GOT IT when prompted
You will be signed in to the Google account that you want to use to create the backup.
Step 8. Click Sync
This option is below your current account name, which is at the top of the Settings page.
When you are logged in, this sync is usually already active
Step 9. Enable the "Sync Everything" feature
Click the white button to the right of the "Sync Everything" heading. The button will turn blue. This will save all current settings, apps, bookmarks and other data into your Google account.
If the " Sync Everything " button is blue, then Chrome has been backed up to your account
Step 10. Click Back
which is located on the top left.
Now you can restore Google Chrome settings on another computer or mobile device.
Part 2 of 3: Restoring Chrome on a Desktop Computer
Step 1. Launch Google Chrome
Open this browser on the computer you want to use to restore Chrome settings.
Step 2. Click located on the top right side
A drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Click Settings
It's at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Click SIGN IN TO CHROME
It's in the upper-right side of the Settings page.
Step 5. Sign in to Chrome
Type in the email address and password you used to back up Chrome. Once you do that, the Chrome backup will load.
Part 3 of 3: Restoring Chrome on Mobile Devices
Step 1. Launch Google Chrome
Run this app on the tablet or phone you want to use to restore Chrome settings.
Step 2. Tap which is located at the top right corner
A drop-down menu will be displayed.
Step 3. Tap Settings
This button can be found at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Tap Sign in to Chrome
This tab is at the top of the Settings page.
Step 5. Enter your email address and password
Log in to your e-mail account by typing in your e-mail address, tapping NEXT, enter the password, then tap NEXT. With this action, your Chrome backup will load automatically.
