Sometimes you wake up in the morning and feel sick to your stomach. Of course this makes you feel uncomfortable and can be the start of a bad day. The symptoms of abdominal pain, among others, are the emergence of a burning feeling in the lower chest or upper abdomen, bloating, belching, bloating, and nausea. If you have a stomach ache when you wake up in the morning, there are some simple steps you can follow to reduce the pain so you can have a good day.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Eating Food to Reduce Pain
Step 1. Try eating starchy foods
When you have a stomach ache in the morning, try eating foods that won't trigger more pain. Starch-rich foods, such as rice, potatoes, and oats can help relieve stomach pain. Starchy foods will not be digested for a long time in the stomach. In addition, starchy foods also do not trigger the release of stomach acid which has the potential to make the stomach pain experienced worse.
- Try eating a bowl of oatmeal, rice, or grits. These types of foods can help relieve and relieve stomach pain.
- You can also eat toast alone for breakfast, without adding any other ingredients. Avoid using jam, jelly, or butter when you eat toast, as these can trigger a gastric reaction and make the pain worse.
- If you feel very nauseous, try eating saltine crackers. Apart from being made of simple ingredients, salt biscuits do not contain other ingredients (especially those that trigger stomach acid). In addition, salt crackers can help absorb stomach acid and relieve pain.
Step 2. Consume yogurt to relieve stomach aches
Poor digestion is generally the cause of stomach pain. So that digestion goes back smoothly, try consuming yogurt. Try consuming a type of yogurt that contains active bacteria to help fight bad bacteria from your digestive system. In this way, the abdominal pain experienced can subside.
- Yogurt is also good for dealing with digestive disorders that can trigger stomach pain.
- Greek yogurt with a little honey can be the right breakfast to relieve pain. This way, you can have a good day as usual.
Step 3. Try eating applesauce
Applesauce is a good type of food to eat when you have an upset stomach. Applesauce can relieve stomach pain because it is starchy and has low acid content. In addition, applesauce is also easily digested by the stomach. If you have diarrhea, applesauce can also relieve the symptoms of diarrhea that appear. Try consuming a small bowl of applesauce for breakfast to relieve an upset stomach.
Applesauce also has a high fiber content so it is useful for relieving stomach pain caused by constipation
Step 4. Make milk toast for your breakfast
Stomach pain in the morning can be caused by stomach disorders. Two of the most suitable types of food consumed to relieve gastric disorders are milk and bread. Although if taken separately the two can cause stomach irritation, bread mixed with milk has its own combined benefits. Milk is useful for protecting or coating the stomach wall, while bread is useful for absorbing excess stomach acid. In this way, when consumed together, both can relieve stomach pain without causing stomach irritation. To make it, warm 240 ml of milk in a saucepan and, once hot, pour it into a bowl. Toast one slice of bread and spread a little unsalted butter on the bread. Cut the bread into small pieces and put it in a bowl of warmed milk, then eat slowly.
- Make sure you don't heat the milk until it boils as it will be difficult for you to eat it later.
- In addition to regular bread (wheat bread), you can also use cornbread. Cut the whole grain bread into small pieces and put it in a bowl of cold or warm milk, then eat it like you would eat cereal.
Step 5. Try eating bananas
Bananas have been consumed for years to relieve stomach aches. The potassium content in bananas helps overcome dehydration and relieves irritation in the stomach. Bananas also contain natural sugars that can reduce hunger caused by an upset stomach in the morning.
Another advantage is that bananas are not too sweet because too much sweetness can actually make your stomachache worse
Step 6. Cut the papaya and eat it as your breakfast
Although plain foods are usually given to relieve an upset stomach, you can eat papaya for breakfast to relieve an upset stomach. Papaya is rich in the enzymes papain and chymopapain which can reduce acid levels and break down proteins in the stomach.
Papaya can also overcome constipation, overcome indigestion and improve digestion
Step 7. Consume the four types of food known as C-R-A-P
C-R-A-P stands for cherry (cherries), raisins (raisins), apricots (abrikos), and prune (dried plums). Although in English the abbreviation is quite vulgar (and in Indonesia it might be a bit strange if the four types of food are served as breakfast), these four types of food can relieve stomach pain. It is recommended that you eat these four types of food because of their high fiber content. Consumption of foods with high fiber content can maintain health and smooth the digestive system so that you feel better and healthier.
- You can also consume these fruits in the form of dried fruits. However, make sure you eat fruits that do not contain added sugar. The added sugar content in dried fruit can actually trigger indigestion, and not overcome or relieve it.
- Drink products or fiber pills can also help smooth the digestive system and relieve stomach pain.
Method 2 of 3: Drink Drinks to Relieve Stomach Pain
Step 1. Drink water
One of the causes of stomach pain when you wake up is thirst. Dehydration can cause an upset stomach and, because you rested overnight without drinking, you can become mildly dehydrated. Therefore, drink a glass of water slowly to relieve stomach pain. Do not let you drink quickly so that your stomach (which is still empty) is not surprised.
- You can also add a slice or a few drops of lime juice to your drinking water. Lemons can help relieve stomach irritation caused by dehydration.
- You can also drink fruit juices or electrolyte drinks to restore lost nutrients or electrolytes.
Step 2. Make ginger tea
If you have a stomach ache when you wake up in the morning, you need something to relieve the pain. Ginger (whether consumed in tea, raw, or ginger ale) can relieve stomach pain and make the stomach feel more comfortable. Ginger also triggers the production of enzymes that can neutralize stomach acid, and contains phenols that can relax the stomach muscles and irritated gastric tissues. One way to consume ginger naturally is to consume it in the form of ginger tea.
- To make ginger tea, prepare 1 piece of ginger (about 5 centimeters long) and water. Peel and chop the ginger into small pieces, then crush it. Boil 450 to 700 milliliters of water and add the crushed ginger after the water boils. Boil for 3 to 5 minutes, then turn off the heat. The ginger pieces can be strained when you want to pour the ginger tea into the cup, or you can also add the ginger pieces to drink with the tea. To make it sweeter, you can also add a little honey.
- You can also eat the ginger directly if you want instead of consuming it in the form of tea.
Step 3. Brew chamomile tea
Chamomile tea is a drink that can relieve stomach pain and make the stomach more comfortable. The chamomile content in tea can reduce inflammation so that tense stomach muscles become weak. If you don't like chamomile tea, you can brew another herbal tea. Most herbal teas are efficacious to relieve stomach pain and treat other digestive disorders.
Avoid consuming peppermint tea. Peppermint tea can relax some parts of the esophageal sphincter, causing heartburn and reflux (backflow) of stomach acid into the stomach
Step 4. Try drinking coconut water
Unlike plain water, coconut water contains electrolytes and natural nutrients that can relieve stomach pain. In addition, coconut water also contains natural sugars which are a source of calories to be converted into energy, as well as potassium and vitamin C.
Make sure you drink 100% pure coconut water. Don't let the coconut water you drink contain additional ingredients that can make your stomachache worse
Step 5. Make a baking soda solution
Baking soda is the right ingredient to relieve stomach pain because it can neutralize stomach acid that causes pain. There are many medicinal products (especially over-the-counter medicines) that contain baking soda. However, you can also make your own baking soda solution to relieve stomach pain. Add one tablespoon of baking soda to 240 ml of water. Stir until the baking soda dissolves and drink the solution.
You can warm the water before mixing it with the baking soda if you want, though you don't have to
Step 6. Make an apple cider vinegar drink
Unlike other types of vinegar, apple cider vinegar is rich in nutrients that can relieve an upset stomach in the morning. In addition, apple cider vinegar also contains bacteria and enzymes that can overcome indigestion and improve digestion, as well as reduce stomach cramps.
Mix apple cider vinegar with water and honey, then stir. Drink the mixture to relieve stomach pain experienced
Method 3 of 3: Using Other Ways to Relieve Stomach Pain
Step 1. Don't hold it in if you feel like throwing up
When you wake up from sleep and feel like throwing up, don't hold back the annoying nausea. Nausea and the urge to throw up can be a sign that you are consuming something that needs to be expelled from your body. Therefore, pay attention to how your body feels and do or follow the best course of action. While it may be uncomfortable, eventually after you vomit, your stomach will feel better.
Holding back vomit can cause sores in the esophagus because stomach acid gets stuck in your esophagus
Step 2. Let go of the anxiety you feel
One of the reasons why you have a stomach ache in the morning is because you are feeling anxious about something. If you're feeling too anxious about something, try to calm yourself down. Anxiety often causes nausea and stomach pain. Therefore, lowering or eliminating anxiety can relieve your stomach pain immediately. Identify what makes you anxious and let go of any things or thoughts that are bothering you.
Try meditating or taking deep breaths. Both can relax the muscles so that you feel more comfortable
Step 3. Stretch your back and neck
Abdominal pain that is felt when you wake up in the morning can be caused by the muscles of the body being too tight. This tightening can occur due to the wrong sleeping position or strenuous activity the previous day. To overcome this, try sleeping on your stomach on a flat, solid surface. Push your arms up so that your upper body and back are lifted. This exercise can stretch the back and relax the muscles in the abdominal area.
To stretch your neck muscles, lower your head and press your chin against your chest. Hold this position for 10-15 seconds. After that, tilt your head to one side and press your ear to your shoulder, then hold that position for 10-15 seconds. Do the same on the other side
Step 4. Use a heat source to relieve an upset stomach
You can use a hot water bottle or heating pad to relieve stomach pain. Lie down and place a hot water bottle or heating pad on your stomach. The heat generated will increase blood flow to the surface of your skin. In this way, the pain that comes from under the stomach will be reduced.
In addition to the heating pad, there are also heat patches or patches that you can use. You can buy patch products at pharmacies or convenience stores
Step 5. Try doing reflexology
Reflexology methods use the body's nerves to relax muscles in other parts of the body. In practice, the nerves in the left leg are connected to the abdominal muscles or nerves. To perform this technique, hold your left foot with the palm of your right hand. Use your left hand to press the sole of your foot, precisely at the bottom of the thumb. After that, press and hold the thumb of your left hand on the bottom of the big toe of your left. After a few seconds, release the pressure and slide your left hand up (closer to the base of the finger) and repeat the massage on that part.
- After you massage until the gap between the thumb and forefinger, massage your right foot starting from the gap between the thumb and forefinger of your right foot. Massage with equal pressure until you reach the bottom of the foot.
- If you can't massage yourself well, ask someone to massage you. Also, you won't be able to feel more at ease if you do the massage yourself.
Step 6. Use the medicines available in the medicine cabinet
There are several medicinal products (without a prescription) that are efficacious to relieve stomach pain. You can try taking medications like Pepto-Bismol or Imodium if you feel very nauseous or have diarrhea. If your stomach pain is due to indigestion or backflow of stomach acid, try taking medications that contain ranitidine, such as Zantac. Avoid using drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen sodium because using these drugs can actually cause more severe stomach pain.
Make sure you follow the dosage or use instructions listed on the medicine package. If you are afraid that there will be health problems after taking these drugs, it's a good idea to ask your doctor about the use of the drug in question before you take it
Step 7. Seek medical help
If the abdominal pain you experience persists for more than a day or two, consult a doctor to determine the cause of the abdominal pain. You also need to see a doctor if the drugs you are taking actually make your stomach pain worse.
Do not let yourself endanger yourself by waiting for a drug reaction that may actually cause danger or a more serious illness
Tips
- To prevent stomach upset, eat five or six times a day instead of having to eat large meals two or three times a day. Avoid fatty and spicy foods, as well as medications such as aspirin, which can make stomach pain symptoms worse.
- If you experience an upset stomach after eating dairy products, you may have lactose intolerance.
Warning
- If you experience abdominal pain accompanied by bleeding during bowel movements, persistent diarrhea and vomiting, severe pain, fever, or weight loss, visit your doctor immediately for a check-up.
- Severe abdominal pain that is experienced in the morning (and continues) can be caused by an H. Pylori bacterial infection. These bacteria can cause ulcers in the stomach. Treatment can be done with antibiotics.
