Step 2. Answer a few questions about your motivation before writing
There are a few things you need to consider before you start writing a personal statement to apply to university.
- Try asking yourself if you have any experience that can support your interest in the program you have chosen. Tell us about the problems you've had, the mentors who guided you, and the progress you've made during your studies.
- List what makes you different from the rest of the registrants regarding your family, health, accomplishments, special projects, or anything else that makes you special.
- Describe in detail your career plan that can show the ambition to achieve what you aspire to.
- Describe the work you have done, both related to education and in general. You must be able to provide compelling reasons to demonstrate a link between your application and the experience and skills that ensure your success.
Part 2 of 4: Preparing the Initial Draft
Step 1. Write a free 5 to 10 minute essay about yourself and why this university is right for you
Avoid statements you've heard many times because the registration administration is used to reading generic terms about someone's interest in a program.
- Free essays can be an opportunity to dig deeper into yourself once you clear your head and write about your real motivations so that your statement doesn't sound too mundane.
- If you make repeated statements about your desire to study this subject as a child, your statements may not sound as specific and sincere. Your statement will not be strong enough if you convey the same things that most people write.
Part 3 of 4: Revising
Step 1. Compose your personal statement in the form of a story
Make a preliminary draft and structure this statement as if you were making a story about your personal experiences and education.
- The first and second sentences should be able to introduce who you are by providing convincing facts about your interest and love for this field.
- Continue the introductory paragraph with evidence showing that you are highly motivated to enter this university. Complete with information about your skills, experience, and career plans. This is an opportunity to show you the research you have done on the school you have chosen and why this program is a great fit for you.
- Support any statements about your skills with evidence or statistical data. Don't just say how great you are but prove it with awards, achievements, values and work goals, if possible.
- Avoid the possibility of rejection. Give an explanation if you have experienced problems during your education or work.
Step 2. Review your statement to make sure that you have answered all the statements submitted in the application that ask specifically about yourself
Keep in mind that you must write a new personal statement each time you want to apply by preparing the application specifically as needed, such as when compiling your bio, because this is the best way to avoid submitting a generic and boring statement that gets ignored by admissions
Step 3. Eliminate sentences, even paragraphs that the selection committee will not judge as important
You only need to write a statement about yourself that corresponds to the program of your choice, so just omit any irrelevant information.
Step 4. Review the statements you prepared so that no information is repeated in other sections

Part 4 of 4: Checking Your Statement
Step 1. Read your statement orally to check for any unpleasant phrases
Step 2. Read it again carefully to check for spelling and grammatical errors
This is common with personal essays, but this error could also result in your application being automatically rejected. Never rely on a program to check spelling.
Step 3. Have your friends check your content and grammar, or make any necessary corrections
Step 4. If there is someone you can contact at this program, job, or university
Ask them to read your statement and make suggestions for improvements to match the requirements of the program or job you want.
