Skipping school is not a commendable and risky act, but sometimes we are compelled to do it because we need time for ourselves. If you want to be truant, it's important to make sure your parents don't find out. It is difficult, but not impossible. Thinking of a plan of truancy in advance is better than doing it spontaneously and hoping not to get caught. When leaving the school compound, make sure no one catches you and act like you have a reason to do so. If you want to pretend to be sick as an excuse to be absent, start showing symptoms the night before to make it more realistic.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Making a Plan
Step 1. Study the school's policy on absenteeism
Look for the school manual, or other document given at the start of the school year and read the section that discusses school attendance policies. In particular, find out if they will contact your parents if you are caught playing truancy. If they automatically call your parents when you don't show up at school, find a way to make sure your parents don't pick up the call.
- Take your parent's phone and block the school number the day before you plan to skip school. Cheating your parents and fiddling with their phones can get you in serious trouble. So, consider this risk before doing it.
- If the school doesn't contact your parents when you don't show up for class, you don't have to worry about your parents getting a report from the school.
- Skipping school too often can, in some cases, lead to student suspension. You may have to go to the principal who can decide whether you should attend counseling, extra classes, suspension, or probation. Skipping school can be considered absenteeism, and will tarnish your academic record forever.
Step 2. Make a plan before you play truant
Decide what days you will be truant. Don't skip school spontaneously. Give yourself the opportunity to take precautions and make the necessary arrangements. Also consider special tests or activities that you might not want to miss.
- If you're going to miss a test or an important school project that has a big impact on your grades, your parents may notice that you're truant.
- Choosing a day that doesn't have a lot of important schedules will have less consequences than a day with something serious.
Step 3. Notify the school of your planned absence
One way to prevent the school from telling your parents you're truant is to submit a letter about your absence a few days before the D-Day. Write the letter in neat handwriting and sign it with the parent's signature. Submitting a letter of notification of your absence before playing truant helps smooth out your plans.
- Practice imitating your parent's signature so it looks authentic.
- Give a simple reason for your absence. Say that you are going to visit relatives out of town, or take a day off, or help with housework.
- Keep in mind that lying to the school is never a good idea. If caught lying to play truant, you could be in serious trouble.
Step 4. Plan for transportation in advance
If you use the school bus every day, think about how you get home. If the distance to the house is close enough, you can walk. Take the city bus or taxi if possible. Ask a friend or sibling to take you home or to a place you want to go.
- This step, although complicated, is very important. If you're stuck at school and can't find a way to get home, your chances of skipping school are slim.
- Another option is to let your parents know that you will be riding with a friend that day so you don't have to take the bus. After your parents leave for work, you can stay home.
Step 5. Look for the most strategic exit
If you plan on playing truant after you get to school, use a door that won't allow you to be seen passing through. If you know a door that is remote and rarely used, use it to sneak out. Make sure there aren't many windows leading to the door or the teacher will see you out.
- The best alternative is not to enter the school gate from the start. If your parents are dropping you off or the teacher sees you at school, sneaking out is the only option.
- You may need to hide somewhere until class starts to minimize the chance of being seen when you leave school.
- If you get caught leaving school, the punishment may be worse than if you didn't show up at all. Leaving school is quite risky. So, it's important to make sure that your decision is worth the risk.
Step 6. If you're playing truant with friends, don't sneak out in a crowd
Go separately. When leaving school with friends, don't walk through the door together. Come out individually or in pairs so as not to attract attention. If possible, have each person use a different door. Determine the place and time to meet; if possible, outside the school area.
- If one of your friends doesn't show up, let's just say he was caught. Don't go back to school looking for it.
- Designate a meeting place near the school, but outside the school. Do not let you have to travel a long distance to meet.
Method 2 of 3: Prevent Getting Caught
Step 1. Don't be nervous
Show confidence in your behavior. It doesn't matter if you have to answer the phone at home, ask a stranger why you're not at school, or get a question from a teacher, just give a confident answer to justify your absence from school. If your behavior provokes suspicion, you are more likely to be caught red-handed.
- Speak loudly and clearly, don't mumble. Giving direct and simple answers dispels the suspicion that you fabricated the answer.
- If you answer the phone at home, disguise your voice to sound sick or try imitating your parents' voices. In general, it's better not to answer the phone, unless you know the call is something very important.
- If you are seen outside of school and asked about it, say “Actually I was doing school work and got permission to be here. Sorry, I have to finish it quickly. So, I have to go now.”
- Say, "I have an appointment with someone, but want to stop by here because I have something to do first."
Step 2. Stay at home, don't go out
When you're truant, you may be tempted to go out and have fun. The downside is that you increase your chances of meeting someone, maybe even your parents. Have fun at home so no one sees you skipping school.
- It may not sound like staying at home all day long, but think about how often you can do anything at home without distractions. Take advantage of this truant time to do everything you wouldn't be able to do if there were a lot of people around you.
- Put on your pajamas and feel free to laze around all day. Turn on the TV aloud. Bathe as long as you want without worrying about being disturbed. Invite friends to join truant and have fun together so you don't get bored.
- Your attendance at school is very important. You will miss class if you play truant. If you decide to skip school, make sure you make the most of the day and do something memorable. You will regret it if you just fill it with useless things.
- Keep in mind that truancy isn't a good idea and the fun may not be worth the trouble if you get caught.
Step 3. Leave the house some time before your parents come home
If you spend time outdoors, make sure you come home at the same time as school hours so your parents don't question the time difference. If you spend all day at home, go somewhere so your parents don't find you home earlier than usual.
If your parents often come home late, you don't have to go anywhere because they expect you to be home when they arrive
Method 3 of 3: Acting Sick
Step 1. Start pretending to be sick the night before you play truant
As the night begins to fall, start sneezing. Blow your nose often where your parents can hear you. If you pretended to be sick the night before, your parents probably wouldn't suspect anything when you said you weren't feeling well the next day.
- Disease can come in many forms, with different symptoms. Decide to show some symptoms, such as stomach pain, sneezing, or nausea, but don't overdo it.
- If your parents are very careful, it might not be a good idea to act sick. They may be worried and immediately take you to see a doctor. If they find out you're just pretending to be sick, the punishment could be much worse.
- Lying to your parents by pretending to be sick will be worse than playing truancy, and will destroy their trust in you.
Step 2. Spend a long time in the bathroom in the morning
After waking up, go straight to the bathroom. Make noises as if you are sitting on the toilet and in pain. Pour water down the toilet to make the appropriate sound.
Remember to flush the toilet at least two or three times to increase the effect
Step 3. Falsify the results of the thermometer check
Make a cup of warm tea and stick the thermometer on the outside of the cup until it reaches 38°C. Make sure the thermometer doesn't reach 40°C or more because your parents will panic and take you to the doctor right away. Remember to add some other fever symptoms, such as sweating and feeling cold.
