The jeans are made of durable denim fabric. This means that at first these pants may feel stiff and uncomfortable to wear. If your jeans feel stiff, soften them by washing them with softener and drying them with a dryer ball. To flex and soften pants quickly without having to wash them, wear them frequently, bike while wearing them, and do deep lunges while exercising.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Flexing Jeans Without Washing Them
Step 1. Wear your jeans as often as possible
The oldest tried and tested method for softening jeans is to put them on and let the fibers stretch and become naturally smooth. When you first buy them, wear them every day or at least as often as possible. Pants will feel softer faster if you wear them for a week rather than once a week.
Step 2. Cycling while wearing jeans
Although the pants will become softer if they are worn often, cycling can provide an "addition effect". The constant bending and stretching of the legs while cycling puts additional pressure on the fabric so that the pants stretch out more quickly and are soft.
Bike for half an hour or so while wearing your jeans to speed up the softening process
Step 3. Do deep lunges while wearing jeans
Put on your pants and stretch one leg forward as far as you can. After that, lower the knee of the other leg to the floor. Stand back up and do the same thing, but with a different leg. Repeat this process a few times to quickly flex and soften the pants.
Step 4. Wash your pants only occasionally
Washing can tighten loose fibers after the pants are worn. If you don't get them dirty, washing your pants after 5-10 uses is enough. You can judge for yourself whether the pants are too dirty or not and are ready to be washed.
Part 2 of 3: Washing New Jeans
Step 1. Turn the pants over
Most jeans need to be washed upside down (the inside is outside), but check the pants label to be sure. Since washing can fade the color and appearance of the pants, this impact can be reduced by turning the pants over.
Step 2. Fill the washing machine with cold water
While it won't shrink too much, it's a good idea to wash your new jeans in cold water. Start the machine with the lowest wash and fastest spin settings (if available). Let the tube fill with water before you put your pants on.
For front-loading washing machines, you cannot pre-fill the drum with water. If you use such a washing machine, load the clothes first as usual
Step 3. Add liquid fabric softener to the water
Choose a product that you like. Take out to 1 cap of softener bottle and pour it into the water. Shake the water with your hands or a clothes hanger to mix the softener with the water.
- Do not add detergent the first time you wash your pants. Just add fabric softener.
- For front loading washing machines, you may need to put softener in the detergent compartment or container so that it is added to the water during the wash cycle.
Step 4. Soak the pants in water
Put the pants in the washing machine and push them into the water. Hold it just enough so that the fibers of the fabric absorb the water. Make sure the pants absorb the water, and don't just float on the surface. After that, install or close the opening door and run the washing machine.
Step 5. Stop the washing machine after the wash cycle is over to soften very stiff pants
If the pants feel very stiff, stop the machine after the wash cycle is complete, before you throw away the washing water. Add the softener again and run the wash cycle again. You can follow this step three or four times if your new jeans feel very stiff.
Step 6. Let the washing machine run the wash cycle
If the pants feel very stiff, run the first wash cycle as usual. Also, if you run adding softener on a few additional wash cycles afterward, allow the machine to complete the complete wash cycle (including rinsing and drying) on the last spin.
Part 3 of 3: Drying New Jeans
Step 1. Remove the pants upside down from the washing machine
Remove the clothes from the washing machine and leave them upside down. Also, make sure the zipper is closed and the pants buttons are attached.
Step 2. Dry the pants on a low heat setting
High heat puts additional unnecessary pressure on the fabric so stick to a low heat setting. The permanent press option or the drying of delicate clothes (delicate) can be the right choice. It's a good idea to dry just a few pieces of pants so that the drying process doesn't take longer.
Step 3. Insert the dryer ball or tennis ball into the dryer
Dryer ball or dryer ball is a rubber or wool ball that will move and "collision" with the pants during the drying process. This ball can loosen the fibers of the fabric so that the pants feel smoother. Dryer balls can soften rough and stiff fabrics, such as denim.
- Look for dryer balls in the laundry products section of a department store or large supermarket. Small shops (eg five-thousand department stores) may sell inexpensive versions of dryer balls.
- Tennis balls can be an inexpensive alternative, but still provide the same effect.
Step 4. Roll up the pants as they come out of the dryer
Remove the pants from the machine and roll them up while they are still hot. Fold the pants vertically (one leg is on top of the other), then roll from the bottom to the top. Leave the pants at least until the temperature feels cooler.
