Method 1 of 2: Microsoft Office 365, 2016, 2013, and 2011
Step 1. Find your email and personal documents
New versions of Office don't store a 25-digit product key in a computer-readable format. The best way to find the key is to look at the digital receipt (if purchased online) or physically examine it on the product packaging (if purchased in a store).
- If you purchased a computer with the listed Office installed, look for the product key on a holographic sticker affixed somewhere on the computer.
- If you have the disc or case, look for the key on the sticker or card that came with it.
- If you purchased it at the Microsoft Store, look for the receipt in the email. The product key is listed there.
Step 2. Check the online store (online)
If you can't find your receipt, you can usually find the key by signing in to your account at the store.

If you purchased it at the Microsoft Store, follow these steps:
- Log in to your account on https://www.microsoftstore.com.
- Click Order History.
- Click on your order.
- Click Install Office.
- Click Hi. Let's get your Office to display the key.

If you got Office at work via Microsoft HUP, follow these steps:
- Enter https://microsofthup.com.
- Click Order History.
- Type in the email address you used to buy Office. An email with a link will be sent to you.
- Click the link in the email.
- Click your order number to display the product key.
Step 3. Check your Microsoft Office account
If you've installed Office before and used the product key, look for the key in your account information:
- Visit https://stores.office.com/myaccount.
- Log in to your account.
- Click Install from a disc.
- Click I have a disc.
- Click View your product key.
Step 4. Visit the Microsoft Support page
If the steps above still fail and you have proof of purchase, try contacting Microsoft. Do this by visiting https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus and click Get Started.
Method 2 of 2: Microsoft Office 2010 or 2007
Step 1. Check the receipt email
If you get Office from an online store and download it to your computer, a 25-digit product key will be attached to the receipt email.
Step 2. Check the online store
If you downloaded Office but didn't find the receipt, find the product key by logging into your account at the store.

If you bought it on Digital River, get the key by visiting the help page and selecting How do I get my serial number or unlock code?
Next, follow the given instructions to get the product key.

If you purchased it at the Microsoft Store, follow these steps:
- Log in to your account at https://www.microsoftstore.com.
- Click Order History.
- Click your order.
- Click Install Office.
- Click Hi. Let's get your Office to display the product key.
Step 3. Check the product packaging
If you bought Microsoft Office in physical form and it comes in a box, look for the product key in the box. If it's not there, look online for the instructions on the package to find the key.
If your Office came with a product key card that has a PIN, go to https://office.com/getkey, then enter the 27 digit number on the card.
Step 4. Locate the product key on the hologram sticker on the computer
If Office is already installed and registered on the computer you purchased, look for the product key on a holographic sticker pasted somewhere on the computer.
Step 5. Use LicenseCrawler (PC only)
If the steps above don't work, use LicenseCrawler (or another free key finder program) to decrypt your product key. Follow these steps to use it:
- Go to https://www.klinzmann.name/licensecrawler.htm and click Download.
- Click one of the links under Portable-Version.
- Follow the instructions provided to download the.zip file.
- Extract the zip file. A folder containing this application will be created. You don't need to install anything because this application is portable.
- Open the new folder, then click LicenseCrawler.exe twice.
- Click Search (and close all ads that appear). This application will start scanning the computer registry.

Scroll down and look for an entry that has the following line of text:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 (for Office 2010)
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0 (for Office 2007)
- Look for the product key next to Serial Number ". The key has 25 characters grouped into 5 sets of numbers and letters.
Step 6. Visit the Microsoft Support page
If the steps above still fail and you have proof of purchase, try contacting Microsoft. Do this by visiting https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus and click Get Started.
