This wikiHow teaches you how to install Windows 10 on a computer. To do this, press a key while Windows is loading so that the computer screen will display a menu that can be used to boot from a USB flash drive or DVD/CD disc containing the Windows 10 installer.

Part 1 of 2: Booting the Windows 10 Installer
Step 1. Make sure you have inserted the media to install Windows 10
To install Windows 10, the Windows 10 installation files must be loaded onto a disc or flash drive. Insert the disc or flash drive into the computer.
If you don't have the Windows 10 installation tool yet, follow the instructions on the Microsoft support page:
Step 2. Go to Start
Click the Windows icon in the lower left corner. You can also press Win.
Step 3. Click the power icon
The icon is a circle with a line above it. It's in the lower-left corner of the Start window.
Step 4. Click Restart located in the pop-up menu above the power icon
The computer will restart.
Step 5. Press and hold the Del key or F2 to enter into setup.
The key to be pressed may vary, and most computers will display a message at startup that says "Press [key] to enter setup" or something similar. So, look for the message when the computer restarts to find out which key to press before you can enter the BIOS.
Look at your computer manual or computer support pages online for the computer's BIOS key
Step 6. Go to the Boot tab
Select the tab using the arrow keys.
Depending on the computer manufacturer, tab Boot this may be named Boot Options.
Step 7. Select the device to boot
You will be given several options:
- choose Removable Devices if you want to use USB flash disk.
- choose CD-ROM Drive if you want to use installation disc.
Step 8. Press the + button to move the selected boot option to the first order
After option Removable Devices or CD-ROM Drive is at the top of the list, the choice will be made as the default but option by the computer.
On some computers, you must press a function key (such as F5) to move options to the top of the menu. The buttons to use will be displayed on the right side of the screen
Step 9. Save your settings
At the bottom of the screen will be listed the key that must be pressed (eg F10) to display the "Save and Exit" option. By pressing the button, your settings will be saved and the computer will restart.
You may have to press Enter to confirm the change
Step 10. Wait while the computer restarts
When the computer has finished restarting, a window containing your geographic data will be displayed. Now you are ready to install Windows 10.
Part 2 of 2: Installing Windows 10
Step 1. Click Next when prompted
If necessary, you can also change the options on this page (eg setup language) before proceeding.
Step 2. Click Install Now in the middle of the window
Step 3. Enter the Windows 10 key, then click Next
If you don't have a Windows 10 key, click Skip which is in the lower right corner.
Step 4. Click the "Accept" box, then click Next
By clicking on it, you accept the terms of use (terms of use).
Step 5. Click Upgrade
This option is at the top of the " Which type of installation do you want? " window. With this option, all files, settings, and applications will not be deleted when you install Windows 10.
If you want to do a clean install (all files will be deleted) to install Windows 10, click Custom. By selecting this option, you must specify a partition that must be formatted before proceeding.
Step 6. Wait for Windows 10 to finish installing
The process can take from half an hour to several hours, depending on the speed of the computer and the operating system that was installed previously.
When prompted to press a button to boot from the CD, do not press any buttons
Step 7. Follow the on-screen installation instructions
If Windows 10 is already installed on your computer, you can adjust its settings (e.g. region, preferred language, location settings, etc.). When you have completed the process, the computer desktop will be displayed.
You can also click Express Settings if you want to set up Windows 10 with the recommended settings.
Tips
If you don't enter the activation key for Windows 10 when prompted, you'll be running a free trial version of Windows 10. If the trial period ends, you will need to purchase and enter an activation key
Warning
- Some computers can't run Windows 10 properly. If you have an old computer running the Windows 7 operating system at normal speed, don't install Windows 10 on that computer.
- Make sure you have enough space on the computer that you want to install Windows 10 on.
