There are many times in a teenager's life when secretly getting out of the house is a must. Maybe to attend a party, meet friends, or something else? How do you get out of the house without waking the people in your house? Here's how.
= step
Method 1 of 5: Think Ahead
Step 1. Create your plan
You need to determine when you get out of the house, how, and where you're going. Out of the house secretly can not be done just like that. You need to sit down and plan these things in your brain.
- When do parents sleep? What time is the earliest you can go outside without anyone knowing? More importantly, what time should you come back?
- Which exit to use? What obstacles will you encounter?
- Are you meeting friends? Where are they? How will you meet them? How do you get back?
Step 2. Plan your exit from the house
It really depends on your situation. There may be many possibilities, but perhaps only one is the most likely to work. Consider this:
-
If you are going to climb out of a window, pay attention to your window area. If your windows are on the first floor, this is not a problem. But if it is located on the second floor, of course it will be a bit of a problem. You certainly don't want to fall and wake other people right? Also pay attention to whether your window out there is a tree you can climb as well.
If your escape plan is during the day, this may be the only way. You need to lock your room, turn on the music in a small voice just to carry out your plan
- If you're climbing a window that's not in your room, choose a window away from your parents' location. Choose a window in a location opposite your house.
- Check the window you exited from. Is a window like this easy to get through? Is it enough for you to go through? Are windows easily damaged?
- If you get out of the window? Can you unlock it first? Will it make a noise when opened or closed?
Step 3. Record your parents' schedule
If your parents go to bed every 10:30 p.m. every weekday, this may not be a problem. But was there a chance that they might sleep a little later? Get ready.
If you're used to asking for their day, do it. They will probably tell you about their work and plans after dinner. However, if you don't do this infrequently, don't do it because it will make them suspicious
Step 4. Check your ladder
Before you do your plan, Try the stairs you are about to climb. See where it might be a little noisy. How can you make as little fuss as possible? Usually walking on the sidelines and leaning on the handrail is best, but you should still check.
Try different kinds of footwear. Maybe the socks will make the least noise. Or maybe it's your sports shoes that can actually disguise the noise. Use footwear that makes the least noise
Method 2 of 5: Preparing Your Escape Plan
Step 1. Prepare your clothes
This may sound useless, but if you get caught, what you're wearing might just help you. It's best if you have clothes on your run and a change of clothes to wear after your escape plan is successful. You have two options, namely:
- Wear your go-to clothes inside your nightwear. If you get caught, let's say you're just taking a quick walk to get some water or taking a regular walk because you can't sleep.
-
Hide your go clothes outside. You can save it in a place where no one else may find it. An area in your garage might be a good choice.
Keep your clothes in the bag. That way, when you change clothes, the clothes you wore earlier can be stored in the bag and easy to move
Step 2. Clear your outbound path
Now that you know what you are going to do, now what thoughts will get in your way? Make sure nothing can get in your way as you move from point A to point B. Your exit must be clear.
- Where is your family dog located? Think of a specific plan for him so he doesn't make a fuss while you're working on your plan.
- If you carry out this plan in the dark, get rid of all objects that might be causing you trouble. Stepping on something, breaking things, or bumping into other things will be a problem for you.
Step 3. Place clothes/big dolls/or other objects under your blanket
So if your parents come into your room to see if you're asleep, maybe you'll succeed in tricking them. Especially if your doll has hair like yours, all the better!
You might want to put a small note under your blanket to let your parents know when you're gone. So if this plan gets caught, you might be able to lessen their worries a bit and maybe your punishment will be reduced
Step 4. Consider sleeping downstairs
Find a place where you can pretend to sleep near your exit. If you are caught sleeping downstairs, say that you fell asleep while watching TV.
- This method may only work once or twice, depending on your parents. Use this method only occasionally because it can raise suspicion if used too often. But you can also purposely sleep downstairs a few times even if you don't plan on running away to give the impression that you're a regular and frequent sleeper downstairs.
- If you're wandering outside, consider a disguise. Not like an army, but you have to blend in with your surroundings. This doesn't mean you have to wear a mask or other dark clothing. Think about the color of the place you'll be passing through, how do you blend in with it?
- Navy Blue, Dark Green, Brown, Dark Gray will generally blend in. Avoid black and bright colors to avoid attention.
- If the road you are going through is not well lit, wear bright clothes. You don't want to be hit by a car, do you?
Method 3 of 5: Executing Your Plan
Step 1. Plan your return path
There's a chance that your parents will wake up and lock all the doors, so have a spare key. To be absolutely sure, maybe you can also open a window as your return path later.
Step 2. Stay calm
Inside, you may be so tense or overly excited that you make a bad decision. Stay calm!
Don't worry about the possibility that you will be late. It is better that you arrive late than your plans fail because you are in too much of a hurry
Step 3. Choose a good meeting place
Use a place that is in the middle of your house and friends, but also out of sight of others. Don't let them get suspicious and call the police instead!
Many places have curfews. Pay attention to this
Step 4. If you meet someone, prepare a story
It depends on where you are caught, use your surroundings as an alibi. If you get caught in the kitchen, let's say you're hungry. If you're caught at the door, say you heard something strange and just wanted to check. If you're caught in the park (hopefully you're still in your nightgown), let's say you're waiting for a meteor.
Give a clever reason. If you have your wallet or cell phone with you, you will be caught lying. Make sure your story is believable even if it may be a little weird
Step 5. When you get home, stay alert
Your action is not finished. Leave items such as wallets, cell phones, shoes, or jackets outside because your parents may be waiting inside. If you still leave your nightgown outside, great, put it back on right away. They may think you're a little crazy, but you just might manage to trick them again.
Your story is up to you. What suits your character? Maybe if they ask why you're doing this stupid thing, just say you're a little stressed because there's an exam or other event that might make you nervous. You may still be punished, but at least your sentence will be lighter
Step 6. Delete your short messages
Your parents may check your cell phone for evidence. So better delete all that. Don't leave any evidence behind.
Remove all. It would be less suspicious if you had an empty inbox instead of just deleting messages from last night. Most people do delete their inbox periodically
Method 4 of 5: If You Have Problems
Step 1. Prepare a backup plan
If maybe you're out of the house and suddenly get lost and your friends can't help you, you may need to call someone to help you. Don't panic, take a deep breath. Who can help you?
Consider your options. You may not want to call your parents, but it could be the best option. Your situation could get worse, the police could come and make things more complicated. Your parents will probably be happy that you called and lighten your sentence
Step 2. Don't panic
The world is not over. Panic will only make the situation worse.
Make up a story if you believe it will work. Often honesty is the best option. Because maybe your parents will check the truth of your story with your friends
Step 3. Cooperate with the authorities
If the police come to you for violating the curfew, you better cooperate with them. Whatever you do, keep working with them.
If you tell the police that you are on your way home and they let you go, go home immediately. You'll make it worse if he finds out that you're not actually on your way home
Step 4. If your parents call, let them know you're okay
You don't need to pick up the phone, but at least texting them is a good idea. Because if they were worried, they could just make the situation worse.
If you're only traveling to the surrounding area, it's possible that you have evidence. After all, your parents are not stupid. Make sure you look true to your story. If you say you just saw a star in a meadow, put some grass in your pants
Method 5 of 5: For Next Time
Step 1. Use another excuse
If you keep saying that you heard something, your parents will start to get suspicious. Change your excuses and tactics.
Know what you have to do. If you like biology, tell your parents if your teacher told you to observe life instead of a worm. Even if you don't like biology, mentioning it a few days in advance will make your story more convincing
Step 2. Understand your parent's pattern
Adjust your technique according to your parents. On what days are they usually very tired? What day do they wake up early? What made them so suspicious?
If you have siblings, you should also pay attention to their schedules. It may be a bit difficult, but it will be very useful
Step 3. Think about fatigue
If you go out all night and you have school the next day, you will be exhausted. Consider cooking.
- Caffeine is one way out. You can drink caffeine the next day so you don't look so tired that your parents may suspect.
- Some parents wait until morning and make you do things when you're tired. You've got your pleasure, now help them. This is better than being punished.
Tips
- Whatever you do, act normally. Assume your day off is a normal day. Don't talk to your friends over the phone about your plans, or don't go to bed at unusual hours or your parents will be suspicious.
- If you are going on a date with your boyfriend, ask your girlfriend to pick you up somewhere else far from home such as in the alley next door or at the nearest convenience store.
- If you're at someone else's house, be careful not to cause them any trouble.
- Before you are completely safe, turn off your phone. If you are caught by your parents and then they see you with a cell phone, they will surely be suspicious.
- If your door or door handle is a bit noisy, spray it with Vaseline, WD-40 or vegetable oil. This will reduce the sound. Don't forget to clean it the next day.
- Before you return home, remove your make-up and remove all your jewelery.
- If you trust your siblings, tell them you're going to run away. They can help you if you get caught or even help you escape. It would be great if you share a room with your siblings so they don't get scared.
- Always check if your parents are really asleep. Look for snoring or no movement. If you've heard the sound of snoring, now is the time.
- If you're climbing out of a window, put your feet out first to reduce the risk of injury.
- If you're planning to go out all night, say that you're staying at a friend or relative's house. Let them talk to your parents so it sounds more reassuring. After your parents agree, tell the parents where you are staying that your plans have been changed and you need to go home early.
- If your windows are equipped with alarms, be careful. Put a magnet on your alarm and you should then be able to get through it without making a fuss.
- If you have a sibling who lives nearby and you're not sure if he or she is really sleeping, pretend to go to the bathroom. Use the sound of splashing water to trick them and then move on with your plan.
Warning
- Delete this page from your computer.
- Do not be arrogant. Your parents may know more than you.
- Be sure to set up several paths back home just in case anything goes wrong. Unlock some windows, or have spare keys for both the front and back doors.
- When you get caught by your parents, the parents will be wary of your excuses. Wait a few months before trying again.
- If you decide to take your cell phone with you, make sure it's locked so you don't accidentally call your home or parents.
- Do not get caught doing illegal acts such as alcohol and drugs, especially if you are a minor.
- Bring your cell phone for urgent business.
