You want to convert an Excel document into a Microsoft Word document? Excel does not have a file-to-Word file conversion feature, and Word cannot directly open Excel files. However, Excel tables can be copied and pasted into Word and then saved as a Word document. Read this guide to learn how to insert an Excel table into a Word document.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Copy and Paste Excel Data into Word

Step 1. Copy the Excel data
In Excel, click and drag to select the content that you want to insert into the Word document, and then press Ctrl+C.
- Press Ctrl + A to select all the data in the chart, then press Ctrl + C.
- You can also click the Edit menu, then click Copy.
- If you're using a Mac, press Command + C to copy.
- In addition to copying and pasting Excel data, you can also copy and paste Excel charts into Word.

Step 2. In Word, paste the Excel data
In a Word document, move the cursor to the table location you want, and then press Ctrl+V. This table is pasted into Word.
- You can also click the Edit menu, then click Paste.
- If you're using a Mac, press Command + V to paste.

Step 3. Select your paste options
In the lower right corner of the table, click the Paste Options button to view the different paste options.
If you don't see the Paste Options button, you don't enable it. To enable it, open Word Options, click Advanced. Under Cut, Copy, and Paste, click the Show Paste Options check box to add a check mark

Step 4. Click Keep Source Formatting to use the Excel table style

Step 5. Click Match Destination Table Style to use the Word table style

Step 6. Create an Excel table link
Word has a feature that lets you create links to other Office files. This means that if you make changes to the Excel file, the copied table will also be updated in Word. Click Keep Source Formatting and Link to Excel or Match Destination Table Style and Link to Excel to create an Excel table link.
These two options match the style sources for the other two paste options

Step 7. Click Keep Text Only to paste the Excel content without any specific formatting
If you use this option, each row will be a separate paragraph, with tabs separating the column data
Method 2 of 2: Inserting an Excel Chart into Word

Step 1. In Excel, click the chart or table to select it, then press Ctrl + C to copy it.

Step 2. In Word, press Ctrl + V to paste the chart.

Step 3. Select your paste options
In the lower right corner of the table, click the Paste Options button to view the different paste options.
Unlike pasting Excel data, when you paste a chart, there are two options that you can choose from. You can change the chart data options, as well as the format options

Step 4. Click Chart (linked to Excel data) so the chart will be updated when Excel is updated

Step 5. Click Excel Chart (entire workbook) to allow you to open an Excel file from the chart itself
To open an Excel file from a chart, right-click on the chart, and then click Edit Data. The Excel source file will open

Step 6. Click Paste as Picture to paste the chart as a static image that will not be updated when the Excel file is modified
