Plants vs. Zombies is a very popular game with a very unique style. You can use the advanced style by changing the Zombie costume. Some levels can be very challenging, and sometimes you just don't have enough Sun. If you're playing the PC version, there are several ways for you to cheat and take advantage. See Step 1 below to learn how to change zombie costumes and get unlimited Sun on the PC version of Plants vs Zombies.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Changing Zombie Appearance
Step 1. Run the game
You can use special codes to change the appearance of zombies during play. These codes do not affect how you play, and you will not be penalized for activating them. You can use this method at any level.
This code also works on the Mac version
Step 2. Enter the code
After starting the level, use the keyboard to enter the following code. This will change the appearance of the zombie or lawnmower:
- pinata - Zombies will explode and shower candy when crushed.
- mustache - Zombies will stop shaving and grow a cute mustache.
- future - Zombies have traveled from the future and are all wearing sun glasses.
- daisies - Dead zombies leave a patch of daisies.
- sukhbir - Zombie screams asking for brain sounded a little different.
- trickedout - Gives the lawnmower a different look.
Method 2 of 2: Getting Unlimited Sun
Step 1. Download Cheat Engine
This is a free cheat program so you can change the codes of various games. You can download Cheat Engine directly from the developer's site.
- Cheat Engine is bundled with OpenCandy, an advertising tool service. If you don't want that, there's a link on the Cheat Engine Downloads page to download the program without an auto-installer. This is the recommended way to install it.
- Extract the RAR file to a folder on the desktop.
Step 2. Run Plants Vs Zombies
The game must be running for Cheat Engine to make changes. Start the level you want to cheat and watch how many Suns at the start of the game (usually 50). Pause the game for a moment.
Step 3. Switch to windowed mode
If you're playing in Full Screen mode, it's much easier to cheat if you're playing in windowed mode. Go to Menu and uncheck the "Full Screen" box. Click "Back to Game" and Plants vs Zombies will change its display mode. You can see your desktop behind the game.
Step 4. Switch to Cheat Engine
Open the Cheat Engine folder on the desktop and run the cheatengine.exe file. When the Cheat Engine window opens, click the computer icon in the upper-left corner of the window. Look for the file "popcapgame1.exe" in the list of processes that appears. Click the Open button once selected.
Step 5. Return to the game
Return to the game window and restart the game. Wait for a Sun to appear and click to pick it up. This will change the value of Sun from 50 to 75. Pause the game for a moment and return to Cheat Engine.
Step 6. Enter "75" into the Hex field in Cheat Engine
Click the Next Scan button to pull up a list of matched scores in the game on the left side of the window. If the Sun value is different from 75, enter it instead. However it is very difficult to match 50. The value of 75 should only return one game.
Step 7. Right-click the matching value
choose Add selected addresses to the address list. That value will be added to the bottom frame of the window.
Step 8. Check the boxes for new entries added
In the list at the bottom of the window, check the box next to the entry you just added. The "Address" field must match the address in the game list.
Step 9. Change the value
With the entries checked, right-click and select Change Record → Value. Enter the amount of Sun you want and click OK. You can enter the value 999999!
You will see new Sun counts appear in the game immediately
Warning
- Cheat Engine can be detected by internet gaming services such as Steam, PunkBuster, and Origin, and may result in a ban on your account. To be safe, do not run Cheat Engine while you are connected to an internet gaming service.
- "too hot" is a popular code for unlimited Sun when playing online, but it doesn't work. You must need to use Cheat Engine to get unlimited Sun.
