Skyrim is the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series. In Skyrim you take on the role of Dragonborn, the hero of the prophecy who will save the world from the dragons of destruction. Skyrim is one of the widest and most complex game worlds ever released, and completing it can be really difficult. How to use cheat codes in Skyrim depends on the platform of the game you are playing.

Method 1 of 2: Playing Skyrim on PC
Step 1. Cheat from console screen
While in the game, press the tilde (~) key on the keyboard, which is the leftmost button along the number pad.
A small black screen/window will appear and cover the top half of the screen. This is called the console screen. Here you can type your cheat code

- player.additem ITEM ###: adds a certain item and quantity to the bag. Replace ITEM with the item code, and ### with the number of items you want. List of item codes can be obtained from walkthrough sites such as
- tfc: You can change the angle of view of the camera to Skycam so that you see Skyrim from above as if it were flying.
- player.setlevel ##: similar to player.advlevel, but this sets your character to a certain level either lower or higher than the current level. Replace ## with the level you want.
- kill: kills NPCs (Non-Playable Characters).
- killall: kills every NPC in the area.
- resurrect: revives dead NPCs.
- player.modav carryweight: increase your character's maximum weight capacity.
- sexchange: change the gender of your character after creating the character.

Step 3. Download the Skyrim mod
Mods (aka modifications) are game programming structures created by users, not Bethesda. This mod basically adds special features that are not in the game, such as special hairstyles, armor, weapons, and more. There are many mods that can be downloaded from the internet; just search the internet.

Method 2 of 2: Playing Skyrim on Console
Step 1. Take advantage of system errors
Skyrim is also available for PS3 and Xbox 360, but unlike Skyrim for PC, there is no console screen where you can type in cheats. On the other hand, there are many system glitches or game secrets that can be used and abused. This system error occurred during the development of the game and was included in the release version. Here are some known system errors in Skyrim:
- Easy armor level up: You can easily level up armor. Set the game difficulty to Novice then head out into the world. Look for weak enemies and let them attack you while you recover. The damage you receive will be less than the recovery level. This will help you level up your armor and Restoration without getting killed.
- Quickly level up Speech skills: Speech skills will increase quickly. Go quickly to Riften and look for the Dark Elf boy named Ungrien in the city. Once found, talk to him and select "Tell me about Maven Black-Briar", then persuade him (press the X button for PS3 and the "A" button for Xbox 360). After the first inducement, the Persuade option will still be available, and you can keep using it to level up Speech faster.
- Infinite arrows: Look for any character on the map that shoots at the training dummy. You can usually find them in the city. Use a Pickpocket (crouch behind him and press the interaction button when prompted on the screen) on the character, take all the arrows in his inventory and replace them with any number of arrow types you want.
