The third eye or the inner eye symbolizes enlightened self-awareness which enables one to view the world more wisely. In essence, the third eye enhances your perceptive powers through sharpness and clarity of thought. But using the third eye doesn't mean becoming a psychic or developing magical powers, although there are people who think so. The true meaning of opening the third eye is having greater control over your thoughts and emotions. Opening your third eye can give you a deeper intuition about the world around you. This won't happen overnight, but there are things you can do to help open your third eye.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Learn to Meditate
Step 1. Find your inner eye chakra
Chakras are energy centers in your body. Basically, chakras are energy wheels that run along the spine. There are seven chakras, and each chakra corresponds to a different part of your physical, mental and spiritual body. The inner eye chakra is the sixth chakra.
- The inner eye chakra is located at the front of the brain, between the eyes. It's right above your nose bridge.
- When meditating, try to focus on this chakra. This chakra helps you see the world more clearly.
Step 2. Choose the right environment
Meditation is one of the most effective ways to help you open your inner eye. With a higher awareness of your thoughts, you will be better able to use the clarity of mind that is connected to the mind's eye. The main purpose of meditation is to focus the mind on one thing or object. It is very important to choose a comfortable environment when you start meditating.
- Some people feel calmer and more open-minded when they are out in the wild. If you feel that way, consider meditating outdoors. Find a place where the temperature is appropriate and comfortable so you can sit without being distracted by other things.
- Meditating indoors is also great. Many people have a dedicated meditation room in their home. In this room there is usually a cushion for sitting more comfortably on the floor, and there may also be candles and soft music.
- Remember that meditation is a very personal activity. We recommend that you choose an environment for meditation that is suitable for you.
Step 3. Prepare your posture
The connection between body and mind is very important in meditation. The more comfortable you are physically, the easier it will be to focus on the thought or object of meditation. The meditation postures considered to be the most effective are generally variations of sitting cross-legged on the ground.
- If you're used to sitting in a chair, take some time each day to get used to sitting on the floor. Later, it will feel more natural and make it easier to focus on meditating.
- Most people prefer to use at least one seat mat to make it more comfortable to sit on the ground. Feel free to use two or three sturdy cushions if that's more comfortable for you.
- If you can't sit comfortably, don't worry. You can try walking meditation. For some people, the sound of their footsteps can be very soothing. Go slowly, and make sure the path is free of distractions so you don't think too much about where you're going.
Step 4. Select the meditation object
An object of meditation can be either a physical object or an imaginary object. The existence of a meditation object is intended to make it easier for your brain to focus your mind. The meditation object will prevent your mind from drifting off to other things and will make the meditation more effective.
- Candles are the most popular meditation object. The flickering flames are easy to see and comfortable for some people.
- The object of meditation does not have to be near you. You can imagine the ocean or the most beautiful trees you've ever seen. Just make sure that you can see the image of the object clearly in your mind.
Step 5. Choose a spell
A mantra is a word or phrase that you will repeat over and over again during meditation. You can chant the mantra silently or out loud, it's up to you. It's best if the mantra is personal and has a specific meaning to you.
- It's best if your mantra is something you want to incorporate into your mind or consciousness. For example, maybe you choose to repeat, "I want happiness." This will help reinforce the thought that you will focus on feeling happy throughout the day.
- Another idea for a spell is to choose just one word. For example, you can repeat the word "peace".
Step 6. Make it a routine
Meditation is an exercise. This means that the first time you sit down to meditate, it may not necessarily work. Your mind may drift to other things, or you may even fall asleep. Learning to meditate successfully is a process and takes time.
Make meditation a part of your daily life. Start with very small increments, maybe five minutes or even just two minutes. Soon, you will feel more comfortable with the process and be able to spend more time meditating each day
Part 2 of 3: Becoming More Aware of Circumstances
Step 1. Understand what it means to be aware of the situation
Being aware of circumstances means that you are more active in being aware of what is happening around you. You are consciously paying attention to your feelings physically and emotionally. Being aware of your circumstances will help you be in tune with yourself and the world around you.
- As you get used to observing the situation, avoid being judgmental. Just observe and admit it without stating whether something is right or wrong.
- For example, if you are feeling depressed, don't judge yourself for feeling depressed. Just observe and acknowledge your emotions.
Step 2. Go for a walk
Spending time outdoors can go a long way in becoming more aware of the situation. Being more aware of the situation can help open your mind's eye because you will be more aware of it. Therefore, it is a good thing to take a daily walk, in order to spend more time with nature.
In today's culture, most of the time we are "connected." This means that we are almost always staring at a communication device or electronics. Going for a walk reminds us to actively take a break from all that activity
Step 3. Be creative
Being aware of your circumstances can make you more connected to your creative side. Research shows that meditation is a powerful remedy for overcoming the bottleneck of inspiration for writers as well as for artists and other creative workers. Becoming more aware of circumstances can open up your creative pathways.
Try experimenting with your creative side. Do some drawing, sketching, or learning a new musical instrument. Honing your creativity will help you feel more in tune with yourself, and help open your inner eye
Step 4. Focus on the little things
Everyday life can feel very busy and time-consuming. Being more aware of your circumstances can help you feel calmer and make better use of your inner eye. Pay attention to every aspect of your surroundings as well as your routine.
For example, consciously, feel the physical sensation when bathing. Feel how the sensation of warm water when it hits your shoulder. Feel the refreshing fragrance of your shampoo
