Keeping your private parts clean and tidy will give you a fresh feeling that will please you and your partner. Here are some tips for men and women on how to tidy up and clean the area.
Step
Method 1 of 2: For Men
Step 1. Clean your private parts
The '70s style is over, and unkempt pubic hair is either a sign that you're stuck in the past, or showing your indifference. Whatever the reason, unkempt pubic hair is not a plus for your partner, so trim your pubic hair. Do it before you take a shower, so that the trimmed waste can be cleaned while bathing.
- If you have a shaver, set the shaver to a depth that's right for you - people usually use a depth of 1.5 to 2.5 cm. Shave carefully around the genitals and below to make it look clean.
- Don't have a shaver? Use sharp scissors, and cut them evenly to a length that is right for you.
-
Some people have shaved their pubic hair. If you and your partner love this look, go for a shave for your private area!
- Soak in the bath for a while to soften the pubic hair. This will make it easier to shave.
- Trim it with scissors before lathering it with shaving cream and using a sharp object on your genitals.
- Be careful. When shaving your face, you often accidentally injure yourself, and shaving is something you do every day!
- Note that when you shave, within a few days the freshly shaved area can get really itchy. If you're scheduled to give a big presentation at the office, you may want to rethink, and postpone shaving until after the meeting is over. Or, use an unscented moisturizing lotion to minimize the itching.
Step 2. Soap the area
When you shower, or bathe, use soap to wash your groin.
- If you are circumcised, caring for your penis is very simple. Soap the area, then rinse.
- If you are not circumcised, clean the inside of the foreskin. If you ignore this section, it will lead to a build-up of a whitish substance with the oddly unpleasant name smegma. It's harmless, but it's not something you want to let stick to your private area every day.
- Rub (rather gently) from tip to tail, and all parts.
Step 3. Rinse thoroughly
Who wants a buildup of soap residue, or the smell of soap? For many people, smelling fragrant soap is as unpleasant as smelling strong perfume.
Some people like the natural scent (that is, a clean but not overpowering scent) from their partner. When in doubt, it's best to use a neutral-smelling soap instead of a strong-smelling one
Step 4. Cover private areas properly
Wear clean underwear every day.
Store unused clean underwear in a cool, dry place. Whether you prefer plain shorts or panties, make sure you dry them as soon as you wash them. Otherwise, your clothes run the risk of smelling worse than you (the old ones) did
Method 2 of 2: For Women
Step 1. Tidy up your personal area
If you plan to only clean a little of the area, now is the time to do so.
- If you have a shaver, set it to the depth that's right for you - people usually use a depth of 1.5 - 2.5 cm. Trim it carefully to make it look clean.
- Don't have a shaver? Use sharp scissors, and cut them evenly at a depth that's right for you.
- If you're using a knife, take a short soak in the tub to soften your skin and pubic hair. Taking a dip will make this process much easier, and you'll have a much more enjoyable experience.
-
Some people have shaved their pubic hair into various interesting shapes and patterns. If you and your partner love this look, go for it!
Note that when you shave, within a few days the shaved area can get really itchy. Apply a moisturizing lotion to minimize this discomfort
Step 2. Wash the area daily
Clean and rinse the pubic area thoroughly, being careful to wash the outside of your pubic area with soap.
Don't use soap on your labia or the inside of your vagina-this can cause irritation and infection
Step 3. Rinse thoroughly, and dry well
You should clean soap residue, to get rid of the fragrance, and to inhibit the growth of harmless bacteria.
Step 4. If you are menstruating, change pads or tampons regularly, or wear a Menstrual Cup (a silicone cup-shaped device to collect menstrual blood that is inserted into the vagina)
Clean and rinse your pubic area after removing it, and before changing it.
Step 5. Put on clean underwear
Store clean, unused underwear in a cool, dry place, and take good care of your underwear-make sure you dry it as soon as you wash it. Otherwise, your underwear runs the risk of smelling worse than you (it used to be)
Tips
- Use a moisturizer, especially after shaving, to keep your skin soft and smooth.
- Use baby wipes as they are good for sensitive skin, and they will prevent odors.
- You can replace shaving cream with hair conditioner when shaving to avoid cutting mistakes.
- Take a shower with a friend. This saves water, and makes intimate care more enjoyable.
Warning
- Remember to be in a well-ventilated area when cleaning your personal area, as sweat can promote bacterial growth.
- Shaving can cause itching and hair to grow into the skin, so make sure that shaving is something you want to do.
- Do not wear the same underwear for more than one day.
