Do you want a body spray, but don't find a distinctive fragrance or don't have enough funds? You can make it yourself easily. Even better, you can adjust the ingredients or ingredients in the body spray mixture. This means you can modify it however you want and create a truly unique fragrance. In fact, you can also add a little sparkle using eye shadow powder!
Step
Method 1 of 3: Making a Simple Body Spray
Step 1. Prepare a spray bottle of any size
Try to use a spray bottle made of glass, and not plastic. Essential oils can degrade or damage plastic over time. If this is not available, you can use a high-quality plastic bottle.
Step 2. Fill the bottle almost to the brim with fresh water (eg
mineral water). Make sure you leave room for the essential oil. If you don't have fresh water, you can use filtered water. However, do not use tap water.
If your hands are shaking frequently, it's a good idea to use a funnel to pour the water into the bottle
Step 3. Add essential oil
Start with 40-45 drops for every 60 ml of water. You can use the oils in the same scent, or experiment with different combinations of oils. For example, lavender and lime essential oils will produce a sweet and refreshing aroma.
Step 4. Close and shake the bottle
Now, your body spray mixture is ready to use. Keep in mind that the oil and water will separate over time so you will need to shake the bottle before using the mixture.
Method 2 of 3: Making a Basic Body Spray
Step 1. Prepare a spray bottle with a volume of 60-90 ml
If possible, use a spray bottle made of glass, as essential oils tend to damage or degrade plastic over time. If you don't have a glass spray bottle, use a high-quality plastic bottle.
Step 2. Attach the funnel to the mouth of the bottle
With a funnel, you can pour ingredients into bottles more easily.
Step 3. Pour 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of distilled water into the bottle
If you don't have distilled water, use filtered water. Do not use tap water as it contains too many minerals. The mineral content can affect your body spray mix.
To make it more unique, use 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of rose hydrosol (or rose water) instead of water. With this ingredient, your body spray will smell like roses. In addition, it is lighter and gentler than essential oils, and contains pore-tightening agents
Step 4. Add 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of vodka or witch hazel extract to the bottle
This ingredient acts as a preservative and makes your mixture last longer. In addition, vodka or witch hazel extract also acts as a binder and prevents oil and water from separating.
Step 5. Add 1 tablespoon vegetable glycerol if desired
This material acts as a binder and thickener. In addition, glycerol also makes the fragrance of the mixture last longer. Glycerol also contains several skin tightening and moisturizing substances.
Step 6. Add 15-20 drops of essential oil
You can use the same scent or a combination of several scents such as lime, lime, and lemon.
If you are using rose hydrosol or rose water instead of water, you do not need to add essential oils
Step 7. Close and shake the bottle
At this stage, the mixture is ready to use. Keep in mind that ingredients may remain separate. If the oil and water separate, simply shake the bottle before you use the mixture.
Method 3 of 3: Creating a Glittering Body Spray
Step 1. Prepare a spray bottle with a volume of 150-180 ml
It's a good idea to use a glass bottle because the quality or condition will not deteriorate over time. If not available, choose a high-quality plastic bottle.
Step 2. Attach the funnel to the mouth of the bottle
This way, you can pour ingredients more easily and spills can be prevented/reduced.
Step 3. Pour 3 teaspoons of argan oil into the bottle
If you don't have argan oil (or it's too expensive), use jojoba oil. You can also use vegetable glycerol as a substitute.
Step 4. Add 2 teaspoons of eye shadow powder or cosmetic pigment powder
There is a chance that the powder will stick to or stick to the inside of the funnel, but this is not a problem. The next step can solve this problem.
- Some fairly popular colors include white or bronze, but you can use any color you want.
- Do not use glitter powder. Even the smoothest textured shimmer powder can clog a spray bottle.
Step 5. Pour 60 ml of distilled water into the funnel
The water helps to wash away or carry the eye powder/pigment that is stuck in the mouth of the funnel. Make sure you use distilled water, and not tap water. If not available, use filtered water.
Tap water contains too many minerals which can affect the body spray mixture and shorten its shelf life
Step 6. Add fragrance
If there is still room in the bottle, you can add fragrance with a few drops of essential oil. Essential oils are so concentrated that you only need about 20-25 drops of oil.
Step 7. Close and shake the bottle
The body spray mix with shimmer is now ready to use. The ingredients of the mixture will settle to the bottom of the bottle over time so you will need to shake the bottle before using the mixture.
Tips
- Experiment with different fragrances.
- If the mixture smells too strong, remove a little of the mixture and add more distilled or filtered water.
- If the mixture's scent isn't strong enough, add more essential oil. However, don't add too much oil. Essential oils can cause skin irritation if the concentration is too high.
- Use distilled water if possible. If not available, use filtered water. Do not use tap water. Tap water contains minerals that can affect the body spray mix.
- You can get essential oils from the internet or health food product stores. Do not use perfume oils formulated for soap or candle making. They are two different types of oil.
- Store the body spray in a glass bottle. If you don't have one, you can use a high-quality plastic bottle. Look for plastic bottles labeled “HDPE”, “#1”, or “#2” at the bottom. Avoid thin and cheap plastic bottles. The volatile oil content in the mixture can degrade or damage the plastic.
- If you have sensitive skin, do a mix test first. Mix 3 drops of your desired essential oil with teaspoon of olive oil (or other skin-friendly oil), and dab it on the inside of your elbow. Cover the test area with a plaster and wait for 48 hours. If irritation does not occur, you can safely use the oil.
Warning
- If your skin is burning, you may be allergic to essential oils. Immediately rinse the skin affected by the body spray.
- Do not use this body spray on the face because the ingredients can irritate the eyes.
- Avoid body sprays with citron based ingredients if you plan to go or have outdoor activities. Citrus fruits (including citron essential oil) make the skin more sensitive to sunlight so that the skin can burn.
