Amazon offers the convenience of shopping at major shopping malls at the touch of a finger, with a wide range of products you can buy with just one click. You can search for anything you need through the Amazon website, whether you're on a computer, tablet, or phone. Why bother going to a store if it can “come” to you? Sooner or later, you'll be ready to buy whatever you want from Amazon.
Step
Part 1 of 6: Creating an Account
Step 1. Go to the Amazon website
At the top of the site, you can see a command bar containing several tabs, including “Departments”, “Prime”, “Video”, “Music”, “Orders”, “Accounts and Lists”, and “Cart”.
Step 2. Click “Accounts and Lists”
After that, a new window with various options will be displayed. Just below the “Sign In” button, you can read a question asking if you are a new customer at Amazon.
Step 3. Click “Start Here”
After that, you will be taken to the registration form page to create a new account.
Step 4. Fill in the registration form provided
Fill in the name, email address and password of the desired account.
Step 5. Add shipping address
You can ship the product to your home or office. Amazon allows you to use more than one shipping address so you can enter multiple addresses.
- Click “Your Account” and select the “Address Book” link at the top of the menu.
- In the settings ("Settings"), click "Add New Address".
- You can add a name and address for someone else (other than you) if you want to send the package/product to someone else. For example, you may want to ship goods for your child who is studying out of town. In this case, you can also add the address where he lives.
- If you're not sure whether to include a shipping address, you can use the Amazon Locker service, a pick-up service that Amazon offers so you can pick up your product at a specific location yourself.
- Click "Save & Continue" when finished.
Step 6. Add billing information
You'll need to enter your credit card, debit card, account account, or gift card information before you can pay for your purchases.
- Click "Your Account".
- Go to the "Manage Payment Options" link in the payment section.
- Click "Add a payment method".
- Select the payment method you want to add, such as payment by credit card.
- Enter payment information.
- Make sure the billing address entered is correct if you are using a different shipping address.
- Confirm the information you entered.
Part 2 of 6: Using the Search Bar
Step 1. Find the site search bar
At the top of the page, you can see a gray box. With the mouse, place the cursor on the box.
- Using the search bar can help you get more specific search results because you need to focus and use search keywords.
- Using the search bar is more effective if you want to search for a specific item. For example, if you wanted to buy the television show Walking Dead with the latest season, you might type in “Walking Dead Season 8”.
Step 2. Type in the search keyword
Use keywords related to the product you want to buy. For example, if you want to buy a food scale, you can type “digital food scale” in the search bar.
Step 3. Press Enter key
After that, the Amazon search engine will display various products related to the search keywords entered. When you use the search bar, the search results will list products from all departments/categories.
Step 4. Swipe the screen to see the search results
With the mouse, review the available product options. If you don't find what you're looking for, you can restrict the search results to the product category shown in the sidebar. You can also use other search keywords.
Part 3 of 6: Browse Product Categories
Step 1. Open the product category menu
Next to the search bar, you can see an arrow icon. Click the icon to open a list of product categories.
- Searching by category can provide more search results because this feature allows you to perform a broader search.
- Category searches are more effective when you know what you want, but don't know exactly what product you want. For example, you could do a category search if you're looking for giveaways for a seven-monthly event or are interested in buying new music, but you don't know the specifics of the singers you want.
Step 2. Select the desired category
If you are looking for a specific product, select the category that corresponds to that product. For example, if you're looking for yarn for knitting blankets, you could click the " Arts, Crafts, & Sewing" category.
- To add a filter or narrow the category selection, use the selection bar on the left side of the page.
- Each category offers several subcategories.
- To use a subcategory filter, check the box on the filter/subcategory you want to use.
Step 3. Browse the product options displayed
Use the mouse to browse the search results. You can see a variety of products through the category selection because Amazon displays all products that fit that category, not just products that match your search keywords.
- If you can't find the product you want, try changing the search filter.
- The fewer subfilters you apply, the more common the products will appear in search results. These options help you if the product selection shown is limited.
Part 4 of 6: Choosing Products
Step 1. Click the desired product
After that, the product page will be displayed so you can read the description, product details, and reviews. You can also see other photos of the product.
Step 2. Choose a new or used product
Amazon displays the prices of products that are in the main warehouse. However, you can still buy the product from another seller. Below the product description, you can see a “Used & new” link that offers other purchasing options.
- Click the “Used & new” link. After that, you will see a list of all the offers for the selected product. The list includes prices and shipping costs, product condition information, seller addresses, and seller profile information.
- To narrow the search results to only new or used products, use the filters available in the selection bar on the left side of the screen. For example, if you don't want a used food scale, you could check the “new” box on the bar so that Amazon will only show new products.
- Be careful with the product delivery system. Amazon offers free shipping for purchases over $35. However, used items will not get free shipping. When choosing a product, make sure you consider the shipping costs.
- Find out if Amazon fulfills an order by shipping products from its main warehouse or from a private seller.
Step 3. Click "Add to Cart"
After that, you will be taken to a new page to confirm that the product has been added to the shopping cart. Amazon will also show you some related products you might want to buy.
- Amazon allows you to enter the number of products if you want to buy more than one product.
- You can store products in the shopping cart for a long time. However, Amazon will remove the product or readjust its price based on the availability of the product.
Part 5 of 6: Completing Orders
Step 1. Click the "Cart" icon
Review all ordered products. If you want to change or delete a product, you can type the desired amount in the “Quantity” box.
- If you are buying a gift for someone else, check the box "This is a gift" under the product name. The recipient will receive a gift voucher, but the product price will not be displayed on the receipt. You can also add a custom message and pay an additional fee for gift packaging services.
- If you want to remove a product from the shopping cart, click the “Delete” button at the bottom of the gift box.
Step 2. Click "Proceed to Checkout"
On a website, it's on the right side of the page, while on a mobile site, it's at the top of the " Cart " page. Amazon will ask you to select the correct address and payment method for the order.
Step 3. Choose a shipping address
Amazon will display the shipping addresses associated with your account. Therefore, make sure you choose the address that matches the order. For example, if you want to send a product to your child who is studying in another city, make sure you select the address where he/she lives in that city.
Step 4. Choose a payment method
If you add more than one payment method option, Amazon will show you each available method. Make sure the method you want to use is selected because automatically, Amazon makes a default choice that (maybe) is not the method you want.
Step 5. Enter the promotional code
If you have a promotional code, enter it into the “Promotional Codes” box before you complete your order.
Step 6. Click "Place your order"
Once the order is complete, Amazon will display the confirmation details. In addition, the estimated arrival date of each product will be displayed.
- If you change your mind, you have 30 minutes to cancel your booking without incurring a cancellation fee.
- If you place an order in the afternoon, it will usually be processed the next day.
Step 7. Check your email account
Amazon will send a confirmation message to the email address you used to create your account. You can use these messages to track packages and manage orders.
Part 6 of 6: Setting 1-Click Ordering Options
Step 1. Go to "Your Account" page
1-Click Ordering is a setting that allows you to make and complete an order with just one click so you don't have to revisit your order and confirm anything. You need to enable these options first because these options have the potential to be abused.
If you use the same computer with many people, it's a good idea to deactivate the 1-Click Ordering option
Step 2. Click the “1-Click Settings” link
The link is in the “Settings” section. You will be asked to enter your password again before continuing the process.
Step 3. Set your preferred shipping address and payment method
This address is the shipping address for products purchased via 1-Click Ordering. In addition, you will also be charged automatically via the selected payment method. In addition, you can also set the desired shipping method. Please note that the shipping method settings will affect the purchase price.
Step 4. Enable “1-Click”
Click the "Turn 1-Click on" button on the right side of the page. After that, the “1-Click” setting will be activated for your account. You can now click the " 1-Click Order " button on almost any product, including digital products such as Amazon Kindle books and Kindle apps, as well as Amazon Video (formerly known as Amazon Instant Video and Amazon Video-on-Demand). Once clicked, the product can be ordered and shipped quickly. You only have 30 minutes to cancel the order.
Tips
- If you use Google Chrome, there is a free extension called Amazon Easy Search that allows you to search for products from any word you bookmark in your browser on Amazon.
- Check the shipping details before you complete your order to make sure the package arrival time matches your schedule. For example, if you are buying a product as a birthday present, make sure that the product is expected to arrive on time, before the birthday arrives.
