The price of worn or worn jeans can be quite expensive. Fortunately, You can turn ordinary jeans into old jeans with just a razor and scissors. This activity is quite fun and easy to do to turn even old-fashioned jeans into worn-out jeans. Simply mark the area you want to tear, then use a razor to make a horizontal incision and remove the threads with tweezers. When you're done, you'll get a pair of worn-out jeans.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Preparation
Step 1. Decide on the pants you want to make worn
You can make worn jeans out of any pair of jeans. However, choose jeans that do not matter if torn. If you've never tried making worn jeans before, it's a good idea to opt for old jeans. So, you will not be disappointed if the pants are damaged.
Step 2. Put on the jeans and mark the area
The easiest way to determine which part to tear is to put it on first. Jeans will look different when worn by different people. So, there are no general rules for determining the knee area on pants, for example. Try wearing jeans and mark the area you want to tear with a pen, marker, or chalk.
- Old jeans are usually torn in the knee area, back pocket, upper thigh, or side. Mark the area you want to tear. For example, if you want to rip your upper thigh area, decide how much tear you want to show when you're wearing a pair of jeans.
- If you've never tried to make worn-out jeans before, it's not recommended to rip the side areas of the pants. The side seams of jeans are necessary to maintain their shape. So, these stitches come off easily. If you decide to tear the sides of the pants, just make a few tears.
- If you want to rip the back pocket of your pants, you may not need to put them on first.
Step 3. Define the work area
Instead, choose a flat and bright area. For example, try making old jeans on the kitchen table. You can also use a certain layer such as a tarp to catch the fabric debris while making the jeans worn out.
Step 4. Rub sandpaper on the jeans (optional)
Rubbing the sandpaper on your jeans will make it easier to cut and remove the threads with tweezers. So, you can try this step on very thick jeans. Sanding the jeans will also make the color look faded. If you want to create a faded look on your jeans, gently rub sandpaper over the area before tearing. Don't sand the jeans too hard. Just use sandpaper until the color fades and the fabric thins slightly.
Step 5. Insert the cardboard into the jeans
Take a piece of cardboard and cut it so that it fits inside the leg of a pair of jeans. Insert the cardboard into the jeans. This cardboard layer serves to prevent you from tearing the back of the jeans.
While you're making old jeans, you can put a piece of cardboard or a piece of wood in the back pocket for protection
Method 2 of 3: Cutting Jeans
Step 1. Cut or make horizontal slices on the area you want to tear
Use a razor or scissors to do this. If you want to make a neat hole, cut the jeans along a horizontal line. If you want to expose the white thread of the jeans, scrape the edges of this cut to make the jeans thread come out.
- Cut the jeans 1-2 cm long.
- Remember, make only a few cuts if you want to rip the sides of the jeans and stay away from the side seams.
Step 2. Pull out the jeans with tweezers
After punching holes in the jeans, pull the edges of the fabric with tweezers until the threads come out covering the result. Pull the jeans thread as far as you can, but only from the area that has been punched out. Try to remove all of the colored thread so that only the white elastic thread covers the tear hole.
You won't be able to get all the colored thread out of your jeans. There may still be some fine thread remaining around the edges of the hole after you're done. However, these threads will come off when the jeans are washed. So, don't worry when you see the results you get are not perfect at first
Step 3. Clean the torn area with a cloth cleaning roller
Usually there will still be some lint or thread stuck to the jeans after you cut and use tweezers. Take a cloth cleaning roller and apply it to the torn area of your jeans. Sweep the cleaning roller as much as needed to remove the fabric debris.
Step 4. Wash the jeans
Washing your jeans right after you're done will help remove any debris and lint that's left. Use cold water to protect the jeans. Warm and hot water should not be used to wash worn-out jeans. You can dry these pants as before.
Method 3 of 3: Avoiding Common Mistakes
Step 1. Use the right materials
Not all jeans are resistant to this process. Denim jeans also vary in weight, starting from around 0.1 kg. As a general rule, choose a pair of jeans weighing at least 0.5 kg to make into worn jeans. Jeans like this are quite durable when made into old jeans.
The weight of the jeans should be listed on the label
Step 2. Read the label on the jeans before washing them
Worn jeans are more susceptible to damage during washing. So, read the label carefully first. Make sure you know the specific care instructions for these pants. Follow these instructions carefully after washing your jeans.
Step 3. Don't wash old jeans too often
Most jeans don't need to be washed often, especially old jeans. You should not wash these worn pants too often to prevent them from tearing. Try to wash these pants no more than once a month.
