YouTube has millions of videos, but many are unwatchable outside the region where the videos are uploaded. This is due to copyright rules that prevent videos from being watched by unlicensed viewers. There are several ways to bypass this prohibition. You can use some sites to load videos through their servers so that regional filters can be bypassed. If you are frequently blocked while surfing the internet, we recommend using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to bypass all internet access restrictions.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Using YouTube Proxy Site
Step 1. Visit the YouTube proxy site
There are various sites that operate servers in several countries so regional restrictions can be bypassed. Frequently visited proxy sites include:
- ProxFree (proxfree.com)
- UnblockYouTube (unblockyoutube.co.uk)
- Zalmos (zalmos.com)
Step 2. Choose a server in a country with no video access restrictions
Some proxy sites, such as ProxFree, let you choose the server you want to use. Select a server located in a country that has access to the video. For example, if the video can be watched in the UK, choose a UK server (United Kingdom).
If you don't know the country of origin of the video, you'll have to do some trial and error. You will try several servers until you find a server capable of loading the video you want to watch
Step 3. Load the YouTube website through your proxy
Enter "youtube.com" into the URL box on the YouTube proxy site. The YouTube page will load via the proxy site. You will see a bar at the top of the screen of the proxy site you are using. The YouTube page will load the language according to the server location.
Step 4. Find the video you want to watch
You can use the search box on YouTube to search for videos. Or, if you already have the URL of the video you want to watch, simply paste it in the URL box on your proxy site. If the server you are using is capable of loading the video, you will be able to watch it.
Step 5. Try different servers if the video won't load
Remember, you must be connected to the server location to be able to watch videos. Try to use a server in the location where the video is uploaded. You may have to try several servers until you find a server capable of loading videos.
- Not all YouTube proxy sites allow you to choose which server to use. Open a search engine in your browser and search for "YouTube proxy" to find more YouTube proxy sites.
- Avoid logging into YouTube while using a proxy site. Your login information will be sent via a proxy service to YouTube. This information can be stolen by untrusted proxies.
Step 6. Bypass the age ban on videos
If the video requires you to be logged in to watch age-restricted content, remove the /watch?v= part of the URL and replace it with v/. Load this new URL in the proxy to bypass the age verification system. This way, you can watch videos without providing login information via a proxy.
Method 2 of 2: Using a VPN Service
Step 1. Know when you need to use a VPN instead of a free proxy
VPN (Virtual Private Network) services offer more servers to choose from, and their security is better than free proxies. If you upload a lot of videos to YouTube and need to bypass regional filters and log into your account, we recommend using a paid VPN service.
- A VPN is also a good option if you can't access a lot of content and services on the internet. VPN will open all your internet access.
- You can also use a VPN for mobile devices.
Step 2. Select the VPN you want to use
There are many VPNs available on the internet. So, you should do a little research. View reviews and investigate customer security and privacy claims of VPNs. It's a good idea to look for a VPN that has servers around the world, especially if you want to watch YouTube content from different regions. Avoid free VPN services as they are usually slow and not secure or trustworthy.
When you sign in to a VPN, you will be provided with a username and password as well as connection details for the various VPN servers. Some VPN services include their own custom VPN client, but you can use the default VPN service for your operating system
Step 3. Connect your device to the VPN
The process of connecting the VPN to the device will vary depending on the device used. Once your device is connected to the VPN, all internet traffic will be routed through the VPN. Read this article to find out how to connect a device with a VPN on Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, and Android.
- Windows. Open the menu or Start screen to find “VPN”. Open the VPN connection wizard, then enter the VPN server and user login information.
- Mac. Open the System Preferences menu and select "Network". Click the "+" button and select "VPN" as the interface type. Enter server information and user login. Your new VPN will appear in the Network list from the menu bar.
- iOS. Open the Settings app and select "General". Select the "VPN" option, then "Add VPN". Enter your server and user login information. The VPN icon will appear in the notification bar when it is connected.
- Android. Open the Settings app and tap on “More” under “Wireless & networks“. Tap the "VPN" option and tap the "+" icon. Enter the VPN server information and log in. The VPN icon will appear in the notification bar when it is connected.
Step 4. Open YouTube
Once connected to the VPN server, you can visit the site or open the YouTube app. Since you're connecting via a secure VPN, you can log in without worrying about having your sensitive information stolen. YouTube will load the version of the site according to the server location used.
Step 5. Find the video you want to watch
Search for the video in the YouTube search box or copy and paste the URL into your browser's address bar. Since all of your internet traffic is routed through the VPN, you can load videos without any problems, as long as the server you're using is from a region where you're allowed to watch the video.
