This wikiHow teaches you how to block quotes in comments on Reddit. You can't create in-text citations when using the Reddit mobile app.
Step
Step 1. Open Reddit
Visit https://www.reddit.com/ via a web browser. The main Reddit page will appear after that.
Make sure you're logged into your Reddit account first before leaving a comment if you haven't already. Click " log in ” in the upper right corner of the page, then enter the account username and password.
Step 2. Open the post
Find the post you want to add a comment to, then click the post title to open it.
Step 3. Find the comment you want to quote
Scroll down until you find the comment you want to quote.
If you want to cite the content of the original post, you can find it at the top of the thread
Step 4. Select the portion of text you want to quote
Click and drag the cursor over the comment or content you want to quote to select it.
Step 5. Copy the selection
Press Ctrl+C (Windows) or Command+C (Mac) to copy the selection.
Step 6. Click the “Quotation” icon
This icon looks like a series of quotes (") under the " Comment as " text field. After that, block quotes will be created and appear as gray vertical lines in the text field.
If you want to reply to a comment, click the “ reply ” which is under the comments first.
Step 7. Paste the copied part
Press Ctrl+V (Windows) or Command+V (Mac). The copied text or comments will be displayed on the right side of the quote block.
Step 8. Close the quote block
Press Enter key to start a new line, then press Backspace key once to clear the citation format on the new line.
Step 9. Enter the response text
Type in whatever you want to say in response to the quoted content/comment, below the quote itself.
Step 10. Click COMMENT
It's a dark blue button in the lower-right corner of the text field. After that, your quotes and comments will be uploaded to the thread.
If you are replying to a comment, click the “ REPLY ” below the text field.
Tips
Do not deviate from the topics discussed in the forum and be respectful of other users
Warning
- Unfortunately, you can't use quote blocks on the Reddit mobile app.
- Don't misquote or make up fake quotes.
