The Bible says there is only one way to heaven. Jesus said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6). The only way to heaven is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and do what God has planned for our lives as written in the Bible.
Good deeds cannot save. Only faith in Jesus brings salvation.
“For by grace you are saved by faith; it is not the result of your work, but the gift of God, it is not the result of your work: let no one boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Step
Step 1. Believe in Jesus Christ from now on
This is what you should do.
Step 2. Admit that you are a sinner and need help from God
- “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23).
- “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and through sin also death, so death spread to all men, because all have sinned.” (Romans 5:12).
- "If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us." (1 John 1:10).
Step 3. Change your mindset and leave a sinful life (repent)
Jesus said: “No! I say to you. But unless you repent, you will all perish in this way.” (Luke 13:5)
Step 4. Believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save mankind, was buried, and rose from the dead
- “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that everyone who believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16).
- “But God showed his love for us, because while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).
- “For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9).
Step 5. While praying, invite Jesus to dwell in your heart as your personal Lord and Savior
- “For with the heart one believes and is justified, with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” (Romans 10:10).
- "For whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:13).
Step 6. Pray:
- “Good Lord, I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ shed His precious blood and died on the cross to atone for my sins. I want to change my way of life and not sin again. Lord Jesus, come into my heart and life as my Savior.”
- “But to all who received him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name.” (John 1:12).
- “So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old has passed away, behold, the new has come” (starting a new life). (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Step 7. After accepting Jesus Christ as Savior, as a Christian you must:
Step 8. Read the Bible daily to get to know Jesus better
Read the Bible as a guide and means to goodness and the right path to eternal life. If you have a question, find the answer by asking someone at church who is ready to help you.
- “Try to make yourself worthy before God as a workman who need not be ashamed, preaching the word of truth openly.” (2 Timothy 2:15).
- “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105).
Step 9. Communicate with God daily through prayer
- “And whatever you ask in prayer with confidence, you will receive.” (Matthew 21:22).
- “Do not be anxious about anything, but in all things express your desires to God in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving.” (Philippians 4:6).
- “But not everyone has accepted the good news. Isaiah himself said: "Lord, WHO BELIEVE IN OUR Preaching? 17 So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ" (Romans 10:16-17).
Step 10. Communicate with other Christians by receiving baptism, praising and worshiping God, serving in the church as a means to hear sermons about Jesus and making the Bible the ultimate authority in all things
- "Go therefore, make disciples of all nations and baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19).
- “Let us not distance ourselves from our worship meetings, as some are accustomed to, but let us exhort one another, and do it more and more vigorously as the day of the Lord draws near.” (Hebrews 10:25).
- “All writing which is inspired by God is indeed useful for teaching, for reproofing error, for correcting conduct and for educating people in the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:16).
Step 11. Share the good news about Jesus with others
- Then he said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).
- “For when I preach the gospel, I have no reason to boast. Because it is a must for me. Woe to me if I don't preach the gospel." (1 Corinthians 9:16).
- “For I have firm confidence in the gospel, because the gospel is the power of God that saves everyone who believes, first of all the Jews, but also the Greeks.” (Romans 1:16).
Method 1 of 1: Important things as a guide
Step 1. Learn things about Jesus and believe that He died, rose from the dead as Savior
Pray and ask God for forgiveness by saying:
“Father God, I want to change my life by repenting and admitting all my mistakes. I will live according to Your will and am so grateful for all that You have done for me that now I have been forgiven and freed from the penalty of sin because of Your grace. I know You have renewed my life. Thank You for Your grace so that I may receive the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ.”
Step 2. Live a life of love
Tell others that we have a mediator, namely Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Lord and Savior for all believers who repent and follow His example. So, living in the Spirit means:
Becoming a follower of Jesus, for example: attending meetings with believers and receiving baptism. You must repent and be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. There are 5 ways to have a good relationship with God: praying to God, reading the Bible, praising God, worshiping God, and fasting. In addition, through Jesus and the Holy Spirit we must show God's love by doing good, forgiving others, maintaining harmony in life, establishing trusting and loving relationships. (Do not live life with feelings, do not judge others and yourself, live and walk in the Spirit of Christ, in the Spirit of God with faith, hope, and love. So, live in the Spirit according to the words of Jesus: “I will give them eternal life so that they will never perish and no one can take them from My hand.” This is the security and protection that Jesus promised). However, when you (or your mind) sin, repent immediately and ask God that you may receive forgiveness of sins, the consequences of sin, living the life of a child of God. Ask for all these things in the name of Jesus Christ who is united with God, the Supreme Judge who judges the good and the bad. God's love is perfect and able to overcome fear.
Tips
- Read daily devotionals that refer to the Bible.
- Sing hymns with other Christians.
- Join an evangelical church (register to become a member of the church community).
- Take discipleship courses at church so you can broaden your knowledge of how to live according to the teachings of Jesus.
Warning
- “All will go well” because the ultimate goal of life in Jesus is certain. If you have sinned and feel guilty, confess immediately, repent, and ask for forgiveness. Improve relationships with friends, neighbors, or relatives. Life is a process and no human is perfect. We are all made of mistakes, but don't let negativity rule your life.
- Do not choose a wide road that is easy to walk because it will lead to evil, destruction, and sadness, causing suffering and death. Instead, follow the path that has been ordained by God, our Creator, which is the narrow path that leads us to truth, happiness, and eternal life.
