Twitter makes it easy for its users to share other users' tweets through the "Retweet" feature. When re-sharing other users' opinions, media or links, you have the option to add your personal opinion above the "cited" content. If you don't want to add anything, just re-share the tweet without making any changes. Both options will automatically add the original user's Twitter name and the word “retweeted” above the quoted or shared content so that your followers know the source of the content. This wikiHow teaches you how to quote someone's tweet on Twitter.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Citing a Tweet
Step 1. Find the tweet you want to quote
If you want to quote a tweet and add a personal opinion or comment, you can easily do so using this method.
Step 2. Click or tap the retweet button
This icon is below the tweet and looks like two arrows forming a square. A new window showing a preview of the tweet will appear and give you the option to add your own opinion.
If you want to reshare a news article, you may see a pop-up window asking you to read the article first before sharing it. You can click or touch the link to view the article, or select “ Quotes Tweet " to continue.
Step 3. Add your own opinion
When citing other users' tweets, you can insert your own posts/opinions, add up to four photos, attach a video, or include an animated GIF.
Step 4. Click or tap Retweet
The original tweet will be shared as an excerpt and accompanied by your comments and/or additional media. The name and username of the party who uploaded the original tweet will be displayed above the quote.
Method 2 of 2: Re-Sharing the Tweet (Retweeting)
Step 1. Find the tweet you want to quote
If you don't want to add your own comments to the quoted tweet, you can reshare the tweet as is. The word “retweeted” will be displayed above the tweet on the feed page of your other users/followers so they know that the tweet is reshared content.
Since October 2020, Twitter will automatically display the option to add your own comments when you want to reshare a tweet. However, this doesn't necessarily mean you have to add your own opinion in order to be able to re-share someone's content even though at first it seems "required"
Step 2. Click or tap the retweet button
This button is a two arrow icon that forms a square and is below the tweet. A new window will show a preview of the tweet. In this window, you also have the option to add your own comments, but for this method/situation, the tweet will only be re-shared without any additional comments/media.
When you want to reshare a news article, you may see a message reminding you to read the article before sharing a tweet with a news headline. Click or tap on the link to read the article in question if you wish, or select “ Quotes Tweet " to continue.
Step 3. Click or tap Retweet
The original tweet has now been reshared to your timeline.
