If you have fresh mangoes, make your own mango juice! You can easily adjust the taste and texture of the juice. If you want a thick, creamy juice, mix the mango with a little sugar and milk. If you want a strong, original mango flavor, just add some water to the mango chunks. To get a unique mango juice, you can mix it with other fruits, spices, or juices from other ingredients. Try a few recipes and find a mango juice combination that you like.
Ingredients
- 6 large mangoes or 5 cups (½ kg) mango chunks
- 4 cups (1 liter) water or milk
- 3 tbsp. (40 grams) sugar (optional)
- cup (70 grams) ice cubes (optional)
For 4-5 servings
Step
Method 1 of 2: Blending Mango
Step 1. Slice the mango into pieces that are about 3 cm in size
How to cut a mango, slice the flesh to separate it from the seeds in the middle. Cut the mango flesh into squares, then scrape with a spoon. Next, carefully slice the fruit surrounding the seed using a small knife. You will get about 5 cups (½ kg) mango chunks.
- Make sure there is no skin on the mango pieces.
- The number of mangoes needed may vary depending on the size and type of mango. For example, "manalagi" mangoes are small so you need more fruit.
Step 2. Put the mango pieces in a blender along with the milk or water, and sugar (this is optional)
If you want a fresh mango taste, add 4 cups (1 liter) of water to the blender. If you like a thicker drink, use milk. To add sweetness to the mango juice, add 3 tbsp. (40 grams) sugar.
- You can use coconut milk instead of water or milk (if you want to avoid milk).
- You can use your favorite sweetener (such as honey or agave), or skip any sweeteners if the mangoes already have a very sweet taste.
Step 3. Run the blender for 30 seconds or until the mango becomes smooth
Close the blender and run the appliance until the mango mixture is completely smooth. Keep running the blender until the mango is completely blended into the milk or water.
Tip:
If you want a cool, frothy mango texture, you can add cup (70 grams) of ice before all the ingredients are blended.
Step 4. Strain the juice you made if you want a thin mango juice
If the mango you are using has a lot of fiber, you may need to strain the juice. Place the strainer over the kettle or measuring container and pour the mango juice into it. The juice will flow into the kettle and the fiber-filled mango pulp will remain in the sieve.
- When finished filtering the juice, discard the pulp.
- If you're using a fiber-free mango and you like a thick juice, you don't need to strain it.
Step 5. Pour mango juice into a glass
If you want cold juice, you can add a few ice cubes to the glass before pouring the juice into it. Try sticking mango slices in the rim of the glass before serving. Enjoy your mango juice!
You can cover the mango juice jug and refrigerate it for up to two days. Unfortunately, you can't add anything to the juice to extend the shelf life. If you want to keep your juices longer, you can put them in the freezer for up to 4 months
Method 2 of 2: Trying Other Variations
Step 1. Make a mango juice cocktail by adding other juices
Mangoes can be mixed with other fruits so you can mix the finished mango juice with your favorite juice using the same ratio. Some fruit juices that can be added include:
- Pineapple
- Peach
- Orange
- Apple
- Cranberries
Step 2. Add ginger or peppermint for a sharper taste
If you want a slightly spicy mango juice, add about 3 cm of peeled and thinly sliced ginger to the blender before you blend the mango. For an herbal scent, add a little peppermint.
Experiment with adding other fresh herbs. You can add several types of basil, such as lemon basil or spicy basil
Tip:
You can also add your favorite spices, such as dry ginger, cardamom powder, or cinnamon. Try adding tsp. (1 gram) of seasoning into mango juice. After that, taste the taste and add more spices according to taste.
Step 3. Add plain yogurt to make mango lassi (a drink from India)
Mix cup (120 grams) of yogurt with 1 cup (240 ml) of finished mango juice and 2 ice cubes. To make the lassi sweeter, add 1 tsp. (4 grams) sugar or honey.
- Use soy yogurt for a dairy-free mango lassi.
- Use flavored yogurt if you like a sweet lassi. For example, try mango, peach, strawberry, or vanilla flavored yogurt.
Step 4. Mix mango juice with lemon juice to get a tangy lemon flavored mango juice
If you want a tangy mango juice, mix lemon juice and mango juice in equal proportions. Taste the mixture to see if you need to add a sweetener (such as honey or syrup).
You can experiment by mixing mango juice and lime juice
Step 5. Add fresh fruit or vegetables to make a nutritious mango smoothie
Make a healthy mango smoothie by tossing 1 cup (180 grams) of fresh fruit (such as strawberries, peaches, bananas, or blueberries) in a blender along with the mango chunks. If the blender has a strong power, you can add sliced carrots, kale, or spinach!
