Tired of buying grape juice from a grocery store full of chemicals and preservatives? Follow these steps to make grape juice at your home conveniently.
Ingredients
Concord wine (or wine of your choice)
Step
Step 1. Remove the grape stalks
Step 2. Wash the grapes
Put all the wine in a colander and wash it in warm water until all the chemicals are gone.
Step 3. Mash the grapes
Use a potato masher until the water starts to come out.
-
An alternative to potato mashing is to use a blender in pulse mode. But make sure not to blend it into mush.
Step 4. Cook the wine
Place the crushed grapes in a saucepan and cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes.
-
Mash the grapes with a spoon or a potato masher if the grapes start to clump or stick together.
Image Step 5. Strain the juice
Place the strainer over the container or directly into the drinking glass. Pour the wine into a sieve and then strain the mixture.
- An alternative to a strainer is to use cheesecloth. Place a cheesecloth over the pan and strain the mixture through it (you may need to fold the cloth twice).
- If you have a food mill, even better.

Remove the strainer or cheesecloth and place the juice in the refrigerator to cool it, or pour the juice over the ice in a drinking glass.
