Often a radio station will invite listeners to call and "the 10th caller will win concert tickets!" (or whatever number your favorite radio station uses). They really will give away gifts. So if you enjoy winning prizes, the effort to become the 10th caller is well worth it. Often this is a matter of luck. Even so, there are some things you can do to increase your chances of winning.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Be the 10th Caller
Step 1. Listen to the radio
You should know when your favorite radio station has a quiz. Sometimes a radio station will invite random callers to take a quiz like this. Choose a few radio stations and write down when they start the quiz.
Step 2. Save their phone number in your phone
Be careful keeping the numbers mentioned by the broadcaster. If you save the wrong number, you may misinterpret the ringtone as busy.
Step 3. Set the number for speed dial
If your phone does not have a speed dial feature, save the number in favourites. This step will increase your speed in dialing the number.
Step 4. Wait for them to invite the caller
Calling the radio station from time to time will do nothing. Hear when broadcasters actually say they are now inviting callers for a chance to win blah blah blah.
If you're the 4th, 7th, or 9th caller on a quiz, don't give up. Even if you are the 9th caller and they are looking for the 10th caller, don't give up. Broadcasters are often busy and don't always answer the phone in the order it starts ringing
Step 5. Redial if you get a busy tone
Many people will also make calls to the radio station. You will most likely be calling at the same time as the other person. Close as soon as possible and redial.
Keep in mind that the phone in the studio doesn't ring loudly and only shows a small flash of light. Don't give up when no one answers on the 20th ring. Maybe they're going to answer you
Step 6. Don't call too late or too early
Radio stations usually start taking calls after a quiz is announced and a new song or commercial is playing. You have to wait until they say they will play music or news so you have a chance to have your phone ring.
Method 2 of 3: Increase Chances
Step 1. Learn about "delay" on your phone
If you're using a cell phone, it usually takes about 5 seconds or so for the call to start. Keep this information in mind and call ahead.
Step 2. Find out which radio station is answering the phone
If you find that one radio station never picks up your phone, but another radio station does, spend more time on the last radio station. Some radio programs are very popular, such as the morning show. Research to see if there are phone quizzes on weekdays or after the morning traffic.
Step 3. Set up an additional phone
This step may seem deviant and expensive, but it doesn't have to be that way. Buy a phone as it is used and use it only to call the broadcaster. Place radio station numbers on speed dial. When you make the initial call with the main phone, make the call again with the backup phone.
Step 4. Ask a friend to help
Many radio stations give away two tickets. If you have a friend or partner you're planning to take to an event, ask if he or she is willing to help you out. Two people have a greater chance of winning.
Step 5. Research radio programs
Check the radio station's website and register as a VIP user, registered user, etc. Don't forget to participate. You can not only win prizes in the air. Many radio stations also conduct web-based quizzes with similar prizes awarded on air.
Method 3 of 3: Stay Proactive
Step 1. Set an alarm
It's a good idea to set some kind of reminder for yourself. This step will also help you to avoid having to wait for radio broadcasts.
Step 2. Get involved after the program is over
Most broadcasters have a Myspace.com page, Facebook.com page or pages and emails that can be accessed from the radio station's website.
- Send a polite email or message telling them that you like the radio station, that they are your favorite broadcaster. Most broadcasters have their own ego. So take advantage of that.
- Maybe you will not increase your chances of winning but there is nothing wrong with doing this.
Step 3. Don't call every time you hear there's a quiz
Most radio stations have a limit on the number of times you can win in a 30 day period. Don't call to win a dab soap sample if you know Raisa concert tickets are going on sale soon!
Step 4. Call the radio station to chat
Just call to chat with the broadcaster. Ask when they will give you the prize you want to win. Some broadcasters may not mind sharing the information. Be friendly.
Step 5. Sharpen your knowledge of music
Often radio stations will ask questions about music. Look for websites that provide simple questions about music.
Tips
- Make sure you know the hours of the radio station. Business hours are generally Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm, but may vary depending on market, holidays, location and weather. Although the radio station has 24-hour business hours, you can only pick up gifts during regular business hours from the receptionist.
- Radio stations don't always get the best tickets for prizes. Maybe you can get a better seat by buying your own ticket. Chances are you will get a seat in the back, unless they say the ticket is in the front row.
- Most radio stations require you to collect the prize within 10 business days or the prize will be "drawn again". If you win a ticket, you must pick it up a few business days before the event and don't wait until the last minute.
Warning
- Don't call the radio station with a sad story and expect to win a prize. They really don't have an extra gift for someone who calls with a sad story. People have tried this on all radio stations in almost every quiz. They've heard of it.
- Sometimes, you may have to do something to get a reward. Say, if you have to sing to get a ticket then be prepared to sing; if you have to be in the studio to do an action (like a hot dog eating competition) then be prepared to do so if selected.
- Radio stations don't have wads of tickets. If they get a ticket, it's only a few pieces (usually 5-10) and they have to pass it out in the air as part of a quiz.
- Don't let trying to win take over your life. Be productive with your life and call for fun only.
