Part 2 of 3: Selecting the Songs You Want to Merge
Step 1. Decide what kind of mix music you want to make
Songs can be combined for various needs. You need to determine the purpose or reason for creating the mix when choosing the songs you want to combine.
- Choose songs with distinctive beats for dance mix music.
- Look for songs with similar instrumentation for back-to-back mixes (one song will gradually be “overwritten” by another).
- Try mixing instrumental pieces with lyrical songs to create unique music.
Step 2. Listen to each song
Get to know the tempo and musicality of each song you want to combine. Take note of the specific parts that you want to highlight when you put the songs together.
Step 3. Play both songs at the same time
Listen to the strains of the song at the same time to make sure the selected works are suitable for "mating".
- Pay attention to the tempo of each song to see if any of the tracks need to speed up or slow down.
- Determine the basic note of each song to make sure the two can be harmonized.

You can adjust the song speed in most programs by changing the BPM (beats per minute or beats per minute) setting. Increase or decrease the tempo of the song if you want to combine it with another song that has a different tempo.

- Use the program's metronome settings to determine the BPM of a song by aligning the metronome with the song being played.

Add another audio track to the project and import the song you want to mix with the first song.
