Keeping your Internet browser up to date will allow you to take advantage of the latest browser features and also help protect your system from the latest security threats. By default, the Internet browser will be updated automatically; however, you can also check for and install browser updates manually.

Method 1 of 5: Updating Google Chrome

Step 1. Run Google Chrome on your computer

Step 2. Click the Chrome Menu button located at the top right corner of Chrome

Step 3. Click “Update Google Chrome
”

Step 4. Click "Restart" to verify that you want to update Chrome
Your browser will be closed to apply the new update, and will be reopened along with all the tabs and windows you previously had open.
- Click "Not now" to apply the update later when you restart your browser.
- If using Chrome on Windows 8, close all Chrome sessions and restart the browser to install updates.
Method 2 of 5: Updating Mozilla Firefox

Step 1. Open Firefox on your computer

Step 2. Click "Firefox" in the menu bar of your browser

Step 3. Select "About Firefox
" Firefox will check for new updates and download updates automatically.

Step 4. Click "Restart Update
" Firefox will close the browser, apply the new update, and restart automatically.
Method 3 of 5: Updating Internet Explorer on Windows 8

Step 1. Swipe from the right side of your Windows 8 device and tap “Settings
”
If using a mouse, point to the lower right corner of the screen and move the mouse pointer up to access Settings

Step 2. Tap or click “Change PC settings
”

Step 3. Tap or click “Update and recovery
”

Step 4. Tap or click "Check now
" Windows will start looking for new updates, including updates for Internet Explorer.

Step 5. Click "Install update" to apply the new update from Microsoft
Then your computer will apply all the new updates for the computer, including updates for Internet Explorer.
If you do not wish to apply another Windows update at this time, uncheck any updates in the list that are not for Internet Explorer before clicking "Install update."
Method 4 of 5: Updating Internet Explorer on Windows 7/Vista

Step 1. Click "Start" and type "Update" into the search field

Step 2. Click "Windows Update" when it appears in the list of search results
The Windows Update screen will be displayed.

Step 3. Click "Check for updates" in the left pane of Windows Update
Windows will start looking for any new updates, including updates for Internet Explorer.

Step 4. Click the message to view and select the updates that Windows has detected
If Microsoft notifies you that no updates are available, close Windows Update

Step 5. Review the list of updates to see if any updates are available for Internet Explorer or not

Step 6. Put a tick next to all Internet Explorer updates that you want to apply to the browser

Step 7. Click "OK," then select "Install updates
" Then Windows will start to apply the Internet Explorer update you selected.
Method 5 of 5: Updating Apple Safari on Mac OS X

Step 1. Click the Apple menu and select “System Preferences
”

Step 2. Click "App Store" then "Show Updates
The Updates window will appear on the screen.

Step 3. Browse the list of updates to find updates for your Safari browser

Step 4. Click the "Update" button next to Safari updates

Step 5. Type in the administrator password for your Mac computer if prompted
Then Apple will apply your Safari browser update.
