The HP LaserJet 1010 was released long before Windows 7 existed, so installing this printer on a Windows 7 computer might be a little difficult due to compatibility issues. Luckily, you can use another driver from a similar HP printer family to get the LaserJet 1010 installed on Windows 7. See how below.

Part 1 of 2: Connecting the Printer to the Computer
Step 1. Connect the HP LaserJet 1010 to the computer
Do this using a USB data cable. Plug the other end of the cable, into the compatible port of each device.
Step 2. Plug the printer into power
Then turn it on.
Step 3. Click the Start button
It's in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Step 4. Select Control Panel
Click Devices and Printers.
Step 5. Click Add a Printer
This option is in the upper-left corner of the window.
Step 6. Select Add a Local Printer
Click Next to continue.
Step 7. Select Use an existing port
A drop-down list will appear. Select "DOT4_001" from the options.
Click Next to go to the next page
Part 2 of 2: Configuring Settings
Step 1. Select HP from the list of manufacturers
Then select HP LaserJet 3055 PCL5 under the list of printers.
Step 2. Select Use the driver that is currently installed
Click Next to continue.
Step 3. Type the name you want for the printer
Step 4. Decide whether you will share the printer or not
Choose whether to set it as the default printer.
