This wikiHow teaches you how to rotate objects in the Adobe Photoshop program on both Mac and Windows computers.
Step
Step 1. Open or create a Photoshop file
This can be done by double clicking on the blue application icon with the words " PS", then click File in the menu bar at the top of the screen. Next, do these things:
- Click Open… if you want to open an existing document, or
- Click New… if you want to create a new document.
Step 2. Click one of the layers (layer)
In the " Layers " menu in the lower right corner, click the layer containing the object you want to rotate.
If the " Layers " menu is not there, click Windows in the menu bar at the top of the screen, then click Layers. In the lower right corner of the Photoshop window will appear the "Layers" menu window.
Step 3. Click the Quick Select Tool
It's a brush-shaped icon next to the dotted line, at the top of the toolbar in the left-hand side of the window.
If you do not find the Quick Select Tool, click on the Magic Wand Tool for a while to open a menu containing the Quick Select Tool
Step 4. Select the desired object
Highlight the object you want to rotate using the Quick Select Tool.
You don't need to select anything if you want to rotate all layers
Step 5. Click Edit
in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Step 6. Click Transform in the middle of the drop-down menu
Step 7. Click Rotate 180° to rotate the layer or object upside down
Step 8. Click Rotate 90° CW to rotate the bottom part of the layer or object up and to the left
Step 9. Click Rotate 90° CCW to rotate the bottom part of the layer or object up and to the right
Step 10. Click Rotate if you want to rotate the object freely
A grid of eight small squares will surround your selection.
- Click and hold on one of the small squares, then rotate the object using the pointer displayed on the screen.
- The degree of rotation will be displayed in a small box above the pointer when the object is rotated.
Step 11. Press Return if you are satisfied with the playback result
Tips

For advanced users, use keyboard shortcuts or hotkeys to speed up the steps that must be done. This is very advantageous and makes object playback much easier! Shortcuts that can be used include:
- M - Marquee tool (to make selection)
- V - Move tool (to move objects)
- Ctrl + T (Cmd + T on Mac) - Free transform tool. You can resize and/or rotate objects!
- Press the Shift key on the keyboard to increase 15 degrees as you rotate the object.
