This wikiHow teaches you how to create a public server for Minecraft on a Windows or Mac computer. Most Minecraft server creation methods include using Minecraft server files and port forwarding. However, both of these are actually dangerous for the computer if you want to host a public server. Instead, use a free online hosting service to create a server that other players can contact, without having to display your computer's IP address.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Using Minehut

Visit https://minehut.com/ via your computer's web browser. Minehut is a Minecraft server host that can accommodate up to 10 players per server for free.
Step 2. Click Get Started
It's in the middle of the page.
Step 3. Click Don't have an account
This link is in the lower-left corner of the login field. After that, the account creation form will be displayed.
Step 4. Create an account
You need to create a Minehut account before you can host the server:
- Type your email address into the "Enter your email" field.
- Check both boxes below the email field.
- Click " Continue ”.
- Get a five-character verification code from your email account inbox, then type the code into the "Verify" field.

- Server names must not contain special characters and spaces.
Step 6. Make sure you are using a Java server
In the "Pick a server type" drop-down box, make sure you look at the "Java" option. If you see the “Pocket Edition” option, click the drop-down box and click “ Java ” from the displayed menu.
As of June 2018, Minehut cannot support Pocket Edition servers and is running servers for Bedrock Edition versions of Minecraft (eg Windows 10 or console editions of Minecraft)
Step 7. Click Create
This button is below the server type options. After that, the server will be created.
Step 8. Click the Dashboard tab
It's in the top-left corner of the page. The server dashboard will be displayed.
You may need to reload the page by clicking the “ ⟳ ” in a browser window or pressing the F5 key on the keyboard.
Step 9. Click Activate Server
It's a purple button in the middle of the page. The server will be activated after that.
Step 10. Specify the server address
In the " Server Status " window on the right side of the page, note the address to the right of the " Connect " heading. This address you will need to type in the menu " Direct Connect ” in Minecraft.
Step 11. Change the server description
If you want to update the server description for general users, click the tab “ Appearance Servers ” on the left side of the page, then delete the text next to the " MOTD " column on the right side of the page and replace it with the desired text.
Step 12. Purchase more server space if necessary
By default, Minehut's free servers can accommodate up to 10 players. However, you can add more players by purchasing credits (click “ 0 credits ” in the top right corner of the page, select a plan, and enter payment information) and follow these steps:
- Click " Server Properties ”.
- Click " Max Players ”.
- Select the number of players from the drop-down menu.
- Click " Save ”.
Step 13. Make sure the server dashboard is always open
That way, the server won't go into hibernation mode and you can make quick changes to the server while playing online.

Visit https://server.pro/ through your computer's web browser.

This box is at the bottom of the page.
Step 10. Click CREATE SERVER
This option is below the " I'm not a robot " box. After that, you will be taken to the server queue.
Step 11. Wait until the server is available
Since you are using a free server, you will need to wait a few minutes for the server to be made available. At this point, you have 60 seconds to confirm server usage before losing your “ration”.
Step 12. Click START SERVER
It's a green button at the bottom of the page. Once clicked, the server will be created.
If you don't click the button within 60 seconds of hearing the bell, your "ration" or server space will be lost and you'll need to go through the server creation process again
Step 13. Review the server address
In the " Hostname " column in the upper left corner of the page, you can see the server address. The address needs to be entered by another player into the menu " Direct Connect ” in Minecraft to connect to your server.
Step 14. Update server time
If you don't update it within 60 minutes of running, the server will be wiped:
- Click the box " Renew Time ” in green at the top of the page.

Step 5. Click Join Server
It's at the bottom of the page. After that, the computer will connect to the server and you can access the server world.
