After installing and deleting some apps during your phone usage, you may notice that you now have an extra blank "Home screen" that you no longer use. Getting rid of this blank "Home screen" can keep the apps you have organized and help save time searching for the apps you need.
Step
Method 1 of 5: Samsung and LG devices
Step 1. Tap the "Home" button to return to the "Home screen"
Step 2. Pinch the "Home screen" with two fingers
Use the same gestures as if you would zoom out an image or a website. This will bring up all the pages on one screen.
Step 3. Press and hold the screen page you want to delete
Step 4. Drag the page towards the "X" at the top of the screen
Method 2 of 5: HTC Device
Step 1. Find an empty spot on the "Home screen", either between applications, within an open icon, or on a blank page
Step 2. Press and hold the empty space
The menu will open.
Step 3. Select "Manage home screen panels"
Step 4. Swipe until you find the page you want to delete
Step 5. Tap "Remove" at the bottom of the screen
Method 3 of 5: Nova Launcher
Step 1. Tap the "Home" button to return to your "Home screen"
Step 2. Tap the "Home" button again to show mini versions of all your "Home screens"
This is the Preview mode.
If you have disabled this feature for the "Home" button, you can access the "Home Screen Preview" by opening the Nova Settings app, selecting "Desktop", then selecting "Home Screens". If you return to the home screen and nothing changes, do it again and the Preview screen will appear
Step 3. Tap and hold the screen you want to delete
Step 4. Drag the page you want to delete towards the "X" at the top of the screen
Method 4 of 5: Google Launcher
Step 1. Make sure you have Google Experience Launcher
This app comes pre-installed on Nexus 5 and newer Nexus devices, and can be installed on other devices as well. You can tell that you are using this app by swiping left on your "Home screen". If the Google Now screen appears when you move everything to the left, you're using Google Experience Launcher.
Step 2. Locate the screen you want to remove
The excess screen will be deleted automatically when you delete all the items on the screen.
Step 3. Delete all the apps on the screen
Press and hold an application icon then drag it to the trash (trashcan). Do this for all the apps on the screen. This will not delete the application; the app will still be available in the App Drawer.
Step 4. Remove all widgets on the screen
Press and hold a widget to drag it to the trash. After all items on the screen are deleted, the screen will be erased automatically.
Method 5 of 5: Nexus 7, 10 and Other Stock Android Devices
Step 1. Install the new launcher
Older Nexus devices and other older devices running Android 4.4.2 or later do not get the Google Now Launcher update, and are locked to five home screens. The only way to remove excess home screen is to install a different launcher.
- You can install Google Now Launcher from the Google Play Store.
- Nova is another popular launcher that lets you remove excess home screens, along with a bunch of other features.
