Are you tired of drinking soft drinks that taste the same? It's easy to make your own flavored drinks and you can make them for yourself and your friends. This article will explain two ways to make your own soft drinks: the quick way, using store-bought sparkling water, or the expert way, by making your own carbonated drink.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Homemade Soft Drink
Step 1. Buy sparkling water
Go to the grocery store and buy a pint or two of plain sparkling water. Look for brands that don't contain sugar or other additives. All you need is fresh carbonated water.
- If you have a carbonizing machine at home, you don't need to buy it at the store anymore.
- You can also buy "sparkling water" – another name for sparkling water.
Step 2. Decide how to flavor your soda
Do you want a fruity taste, or a richer flavour? The sky is the limit when it comes to making soda. Choose one of these delicious flavours, or create your own:
- Lime lime. It's a classic, fresh flavor combination, and it's even fresher when you make your own with fresh lemons.
- Vanilla cream. Another favourite, smooth and rich. You will need whipping cream and vanilla extract.
- Chocolate. Chocolate soda is surprisingly easy to make – all you need is chocolate syrup, and you're ready to make chocolate soda.
- Tropical punch. Buy mangoes, pineapples and kiwis or just buy a few types of fruit juices to make your tropical soda.
Step 3. Choose a sweetener
The great thing about making your own soda, is that you can choose how sweet you want it to be. You can use plain sugar, or try other flavors like honey, agave nectar, or even molasses. Choose a sweetener that matches the flavor of the soda you are designing.
- Soda made from fruit does not require as much sweetener as other sodas, because the fruit itself has a natural sweetness.
- Pair the vanilla and chocolate soda with maple syrup for an interesting flavor.
- Make a diet soda using a sugar substitute.
Step 4. Mix the soda
Pour the carbonated water into the pitcher or punch bowl. Add the flavor of your choice, freshly squeezed fruit, chocolate syrup or cream and vanilla. Add the sweetener, then stir with a large spoon. Serve immediately or store in a closed bottle for later consumption.
- Taste the soda after adding flavorings and sweeteners to determine how much to add.
- Serve the drink with a clear glass and straw to show off its pretty color and bubbles. Homemade soft drinks are a great party dish.
Method 2 of 2: Homemade Soft Drink by a Beverage Expert
Step 1. Buy materials for making soft drinks
Making soft drinks from scratch means buying ingredients that cause carbonation to occur in water. These ingredients are available at brew stores or online. You will need the following equipment:
- The bucket measures 19.8 L
- Plastic bottles with lids, for storing ready-made soft drinks
- Big pan
- Large spoon for stirring
- 8 cups sugar
- Your choice of flavor
- 1 packet of champagne yeast
- Soda Extract
- Kitchen thermometer
Step 2. Boil water and sugar
In a large saucepan, pour 7.6 liters of water and 8 cups of sugar. Bring to a boil and the sugar dissolves into the water.
At this point you can add any spices or flavors you want to add, such as ginger (to make a ginger ale) or lemon zest. Add spices to cook with sugar. Once the sugar has dissolved, strain the spices from the solution before further processing
Step 3. Pour the sugar water into the bucket
In order not to be too concentrated or thick add 7.6 liters of cold water. Allow the solution to cool slightly, but not too cold; the temperature should be between 21 and 27 degrees Celsius.
- Check with a kitchen thermometer to make sure the temperature is right before proceeding to the next step.
- If the solution is too cold, you will need to heat it again before adding the soda extract and yeast.
Step 4. Add soda extract and yeast
Step 5. Stir well until completely dissolved
Step 6. Pour the solution into the bottle
If the bucket has a faucet, use it to fill bottles; if you don't have one, you can use a funnel in the bottle and pour in the soda. When the bottle is full, close it tightly.
Step 7. Store the bottle at 21 degrees Celsius
At this temperature the yeast will devour the sugar and begin to ferment, producing carbon dioxide. It will take 2-3 days for the water to carbonate.
Step 8. Carbonation test
Squeeze the plastic bottle. If it feels hard when you squeeze it, it means the water is carbonated. If the bottle bends easily, it will take some more time.
Step 9. Cool the bottle
When the soda is ready, put it in the refrigerator to cool. When it's cold, open the bottle and enjoy your homemade soda.
Tips
- Please choose the flavor you want, not just citrus fruit that can be used.
- This process is interesting to try.
- You can use a larger amount if you wish.
